I am a 50 year old who was diagnosed with Fibro almost 17 years ago. I have been extremely lucky. Other than my first really bad attack that lasted about a year because Dr.s didn't know what was wrong with me and were running test and once diagnosed had to go through the dance of finding the perfect medication combo. I really have done pretty well. Of course I have had my good days and bad days like all of us. About 1 1/2 ago I guess I was starting out in pre-menopause and started having problems so Dr. put me on cymbalta ... supposedly the greatest thing.... it was awful... my periods were all over the place, panic attacks, pain, ect. went right off that and went back to my 20mg of fluexetine and once that other stuff was out of my system I leveled out until...
About 3 weeks ago I started having adrenaline rush feelings, anxiety attacks, trouble sleeping, pain etc. Came on like a ton of bricks, out of no-where.No medicine changes, no additional stress, nothing I could think of triggered this. I went to Dr. and Demanded to have a hormone panel done along with thyroid, cbc, etc. Like I suspected my hormones are way out of whack, all other tests normal. My regular gyno said that I am in peri-menopause and she referred me to a doctor that specializes in hormone therapies. I am just in one of the worst fibro flares I have had for 15 years. I could probably deal with things if it was just the pain, but the anxiety and lack of sleep and IBS are just intensifying the whole situation. My appointment is not until the 18th - 14 days away. Any suggestions or comments from those going through menopause or having similar problems would be greatly appreciated.
