Prayer Request

This is not directly related to my Fibro, however the emotions I have from the event I am about to describe has made me feel depressed today, but I think I am depressed for everyone directly involved, here is the story:

I live in a small farm town, population just under 1,200. Some people refer to us as a “hick town” others as a speed bump in the corn field. Small towns can have it’s disadvantages, people know too much about others, or at least think they do! But the town I live in, Liberty Center, Ohio, is a very close and supportive community.

At about 7:30 this morning, a house occupied by a 72 year old man and his fiance exploded! It is believed to have been caused by a gas leak, but that has not been made the official cause. The man has 3rd degree burns over 90% of his body, and his fiance did not survive. A school bus full of students, grade K-12 were approx 200 feet from the home when it exploded, they witnessed this terrible event! Thankfully nobody on the bus was physically injured. The children did however hear the loud boom which was felt by families over 10 miles away as well as seen the gigantic fireball, and debris flying everywhere. These children are friends and classmates with my boys. My heart just aches for these children. My youngest is 10 years old and a classmate of his was not in school today because this home belonged to his grandpa. The area that the explosion occured in is just outside of town, so there are neighbors close by. The homes on each side of the one that was destroyed are also damaged beyond repair. I was at work when this happened, but my boys were just walking out the door to go to school, they felt our house shake, we live about 2 miles away. Our whole community has some how been effected by this. I did not know the woman who died, or the man who was so badly burnt, but I know all of the other homes on this road, there are 8 of them in a half mile stretch. This is the only home in that stretch that did not have kids living in it. My heart is heavy with sadness tonight as I write this, and I ask that anyone who reads this, please say an extra prayer tonight for the community of Liberty Center, Ohio. We have come back from devastation before, and I know we will this time too. Thank you all in advance for your prayers!

I am trying to attach a pic, it is the title of a YouTube video that tells the story with vivd pictures, if anyone wants to watch.

The pic shows what to search for on YouTube to find the story. Just so heart broken!!

An explosion of that magnitude does somehow mean something to each person living in that town of Liberty Centre, Ohio and it will for days to come.

I will pray for the people of the town.

God will bless and guide that poor gentleman and your family and your town to the peace you are deserving of. My prayers this morning are devoted to you all…

I will be thinking of your town.

PRAYERS!!!

OMG. I'm terribly sorry! Especially for the fellow who's so badly burned. And for the little kids who saw the explosion. Looking at the photo, it's hard to believe that anyone was able to escape alive. It's worse than tornado damage.

Your community is definitely in my thoughts and prayers, Jennifer. Since your small community is so close, I do think you all will help each other pull through. That's the great part about living in a close community.

Dear Jennifer,

My heart goes out to everyone! What a tragedy!

My good thoughts and prayers are with all of you,

SK

Thank you to everyone for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers!

Continuing to pray for this. Our sending church (we are now missionaries) is Shiloh just outside of LC. Many people at church have shared this with us. Prayers for the students and bus driver who witnessed this horrific event. God will take care of all of them.

Praying for you and your community. I live in a small town too. In times like these we pull together. I'm sure that will be to your advantage. Having neighbors to talk to and running into people at the post office, etc...all become a source of therapy and a chance to heal.

Hugs and Prayers,

Kitty
