SAMe

I just found out I have FM and was put on Cymbalta but it did not work for me. It took 5 years to find out want was going on with me. I have always taken Ibuprofen for my pain and It helps but not great. I really want to try something natural and was thinking of SAMe. Has anyone tried this and what did you think?

I have not tried it did you ask your doctor about it mine has a list of things i can take that are natural or over the counter

My doctor will only say I do not know anything about natural meds. I am only on BP meds and what I have read there is no reactions with what I am on.

hi maggie. i have not tried SAME.. just wanted to say hi and welcome you! HUGGS

Hello, I tried it for several years. I think it helped some, it was expensive.

Worth a try if it helps: Vitamen D, eating healthy, going to bed and waking up at the same time helps me now, along with meds.

SAMe is good for depression, they say, but I haven't seen it work too well for that. It's sort of expensive. Won't hurt, might help. Post if you're getting any results. I've seen it talked about in journals as having some effect on chronic pain. Haven't seen clinical trials because the medico-legal industry is against natural medicine and won't fund or take seriously natural approaches. (sad)

Not sure, but saw it on Dr. Oz for chronic pain. If it works let me know! Desperate...

My doctor told me that the FDA doesn't govern the ingredients in health/natural supplements and would only give the green light on vitamins. But now I'm curious about it and will see if it is on sale and try some if it is. It's really difficult to know if it's ok to try it or not since your doctor couldn't tell you. It looks like others have tried it without bad reactions but then again, we're all different. I guess this is something you might have to decide on your own, unfortunately.

Hugs,

Petunia

Hi Maggiemay. I've heard good things about SAMe. I haven't used it, but you have reminded me of it now! I have heard that it is really good for people who suffer from "Seasonal Affective Disorder" as well as what others have mentioned.
