Recently, I started on Soma 350mg and hydrocodone 5/300mg. I noticed that I waken about every 2 hrs at night and wondering if these medicines are causing that. I've been on Trazodone for sleep for over 20 years. Any input on this subject? Thanks and it is good to have a place to be and ask others for their thoughts.
Hi,
One of the side effects of Soma is sleep problems/insomnia, might be worth discussing with your doctor.
Hope this helps some

Thanks Ann, I appreciate your comment.
Hi there,
I am so relieved to see that I am not the only one with this issue. I have the SAME problem. Every narcotic pain med I have tried leads me to be up every 2 hours like yourself. But i get up very hungry and am prone to coming down the steps to the kitchen and eating, but not remembering it the next day. That is scary. I told this to my sleep doc as I have very bad sleep apnea and he said that he had never heard of this particular complaint. SO last week i had another sleep study and took the med right before bed and guess what happened? Thats right-NOTHING. I slept the whole night. Now, I did have my sleep apnea machine and was hooked up to many wires so I think they must have adjusted my pressures. They could not tell me as the doctor must go through the whole study and then call me.
So perhaps you have sleep apnea? Just know that you are not alone with this weird side effect
Good Luck
Maria
hi grandbetsy. Narcotics tend to be stimulants for me. I have had trouble sleeping when using hydrocodone too. When using them (which isn't often) I need to make sure I've had my clonazepam that day or eve to help relax me and that way I stay asleep.
Good luck with this.
