I just wanted to update, as I have written some discussions out of so much pain!
I am from NYC, and have been living in Miami for two years now. My flareups have gotten HORRIBLE this past year. I have been to the emergency room twice, and they just refer me to a neurologist. I am flying to NY and seeing my doctor on Monday! When I last saw him, he was worried about me and had me tested for lupus and RA....which came back negative. Hopefully he can help me! I will let everyone know what he says!
I hope all of you are feeling better, and have a great day!!!!
Sounds like a great idea to go to a known and trusted doctor. I hope he helps you out, Christina. Fibro is hard to get under control, so I understand why your other doc was having difficulty treating it, but come on. And let's hope that your lupus and RA tests continue to come back negative.
Oh, hope you get a chance to enjoy NYC while you're there.
Christina, I’m so glad for you that your finally able to get back. To your dr. When my son went away to college I had seriously considered moving to Fl, but that was just as fibro was showing its ugly head, the one thing that stopped me was I couldn’t imagine not having access to my dr. And then I began struggling with work, so I’m glad now I didn’t make the move, although living in NY with this nasty cold is making it hard.
I hope your dr can help you or at least send you to a specialist, there are so many great dr in the City, there must be a fibro specialist !! One would think ?
Hugs & blessings
Let us know how it goes

Christina, it sounds like you have a special doctor in NY, one who really cares about you. The only problem is that he is far away from Miami. Do you intend to go back to NYC to live in the future? Or are you planning to stay in Miami? If you're going to live in Miami you need to find a doctor there, one you can go to see more regularly. I sure hope you can find one in Miami who cares about you.
Glad you're seeing your doc soon. How do you like the weather? Have you noticed a difference in your pain now that you don't have to put up with the cold? I'm curious since my doc wants me to move to Arizona. Which is totally impossible but it's a nice thought. Apparently the dry heat is good for fibro. Good luck monday, hugs, Charlie :)
I definately was in more pain in NY, and part of me moving here was the warm weather. I was definately worse more often up there in the winter....however, I have been having the worse flare ups of my life here. It could be the stress that life is hard to sustain here. The incomes are much lower. The doctors are horrible. But, I don't get depression like I did up north because of the sunshine. I make myself get outside even for a short walk, and I just breathe the air and sit and watch the ocean....and it helps me emotionally. I considered moving home where it would be easier, but I am giving it some more time because the sun really does help.
Hope this helps any. Hope you feel better as well!
I'm in New York and saw my doctor today! It is sooooo cold here!
He said he does think it's fibro now, but he said I have more stuff going on than the fibro and need a neurologist. He put me on cymbalta, and he gave me a script for vicodin. He is the best doctor. I wish he was in Florida! Hope everyone is doing well!
Wow. Well, there you go then, fibro with more going on. Finally! A diagnosis for you to go on.
It's inappropriate to say "congratulations," but what a great thing for you to know at least a part of what's going on with you. And you know where to go next. What a shame you had to go all of the way to NYC to get a diagnosis. But you got it, so good for you!
So glad you are getting some answers, and some helpful meds, I hope they are a success. Could he recommend someone in your area perhaps? I know, it's wishful thinking, but you just never know!
