Mild/irritating pain or morning soreness:tired_face:
HEAT! Get a heating pad or crank up the heat in the house if you have get yourself out of bed for work in the morning.
CBD/THC! I have a MMJ card and I have found immense relief for muscle tightness from using a cartridge pen. If you live in a state where it is not legal then you can still use CBD products; they come in edibles, lotions, tinctures, cartridges, pills, and more.
Light stretching and I mean LIGHT STRETCHING you can easily ruin your day by going too far!
Warm shower to help wake up your muscles and nerves.
Severe pain
Ice pack! Gel packs allow more flexibility especially if you have joint/shoulder/neck pain.
Menthol cream! My favorites are Tigerâs Balm and Biofreeze. I order Tigerâs Balm from Amazon but you can buy Biofreeze at Walmart. I even mix them together! Restless legs can be easily masked if you apply enough of this goop. Tigerâs Balm is greasy and difficult to open if you get the tin cans but Biofreeze is more like a lotion.
*Hot baths are great when standing in a shower isnât possible. Fill it with lots of epsom salts and bubble bath!(Lotsa bubbles cuz you deserve it amiright?)
Sleepy time
Take your melatonin! There are melting cherry-flavored that are actually yummy and it works within 10-15 minutes.
Self help is the key to a better life. Doctors can only help in a little way but we are more intune to our bodies than they are. Some doctors are great and some are not so good. My current Rheumatology doctor is not as good as my past doctors when it comes to FM but he is better at dealing with my RA and OA. The amount of help he has given me for my RA and OA pain level has helped me to deal with my FM better. I am also starting to work with a pain specialist starting next month. I hope she is good with FM patients for that is my main pain concern. My degenerative spine would be bearable if I had my FM under better control.
As far as self help, I believe that it is a challenge to try it and see if it works for you. Some things that I have found on this site have been real helpful others have not. I have had FM for a few decades now and have found that what works for me and what does not is a personal journey. All I can say is âDo not give up! Something is going to help! Just keep trying!â I do believe that with all the medical breakthroughs there will be a breakthrough for those of us who suffer from FM.
This may seem a little on the strange side but get a theme song of victory or of fighting. I like the Rocky workout songs found on YouTube. When I find a bad day and I have to get up and fight the FM back from ruining my attempt to get things done I think of a good song to âworkoutâ (or I should say to fight against) too.
Mental toughness gets a lot accomplished when it comes to my dealings with FM.
