The one thing that really helps to uplift me when I feel "down" is to go photo-shopping in the photos category here on the website. Out of the many photos posted, you will find something that makes you smile. That is one thing that has really helped me quite a bit. The photo could be of anything or anyone. a beautiful smile, an animal, a country scene, a body of calm water, a sunset, etc. etc. I can't tell you how many times I have done it, but I've never come away disappointed!!!!!! Try it, you'll be very surprised at what you find!!!

Thanks for sharing Woolybear. :) This is a great suggestion!

I have both fibromyalgia and SLE Lupus. I started taking Plaquenil in November when I read I ever much Lupus diagnosis. It has been a life saver! Not only are my Lupus symptoms better so are my fibro flares! I have also found a wonder gel to rub on my legs and arms in time of pain called, Ortho Jelly, that I stumbled onto at a craft fair, best stuff ever! I have also found that hot baths with epsom salt and pure peppermint and lavender oils help as well. This is a great site! Welcome to the family!

This is a great topic. It is so easy to get caught up in symptoms, meds and treatments that we can forget that our outlook is the best treatment we have. When I first started having symptoms in 2007 I was on a mission to find out what was wrong. After I was diagnosed I was looking for treatments and the posts I was reading in the support group I belonged to back then was how to fight Fibro. It was a battle or a war and it was only going to be vanquished by a valiant fight. It took me about 6 months to realized I was not going to find a cure or a miracle treatment now matter how many hours I spent on the internet. I felt like I was in a fight to the death with fibro. Fighting is terrible tiring. Then one day I realize that I was grateful my little body was handling this condition as well as it could. I stopped fighting and began praising my body for doing as well as it could in the face of this condition. That turned this around for me and I stopped fighting and started living with Fibro.

Thanks Traci, for sharing your story :) I can relate to a lot of it and Im new to my diagnosis. It really helps look down the road.. It's difficult just to accept without the fight.

Traci, that helped me so much to explain where I'm at and how far I've come....what a great way to put it "stop fighting and start living"...I've recently surrendered and waved my white flag in the fibro fight and I could not have explained any better than you just did. Reading that was like a breath of fresh clarity air!!! My new motto (at least for awhile) is going to be "start living with fibro".....that makes the focus turn completely around to all the things I CAN do with firbro instead of focusin on what I CANT do because of it!!! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm going to share this in my co-dependency support group. I'm also considering starting a chronic pain support group at my church as well. Much Peace and Blessings to you.
