Tens unit-pain relief

hi

my tens unit is being delivered today and hopefully will provide another pain relief option.

have tried all the usual meds prescribed for fibro but the only effective reduction comes from

narcotics. any members using tens?

will update after using....

I bought myself one!!!! I do enjoy it and it does help! I hope you find relief with yours! I plan on hooking myself up once I start back to work and when I start to feel the pain just turn it on. Not sure how it will work out in that setting but I will be giving it a try.

I wore my tens unit daily when I was still working. When I felt my neck starting to tighten up I would turn it on. Did the same with my low back. After my last shoulder surgery I got a Continuum Empi unit that helped with the inflammation too. I still use weekly, but can't when I'm flaring. It's too distracting and my body is too sensitive. I've been using a tens unit since 2002. It's my only pain relief mechanism, as I can't take fibro meds and doctors won't prescribe narcotics because they say they don't work for fibro patients. I disagree. I feel they take the edge off of the pain allowing you to have a better quality life. If you have any questions about how to use, feel free to message me!

hi sandi!

narcotics do work for fibro pain-i'd be in a nursing home w/o them!

want an option to Percocet, thanks for your support!!

just want to clarify

my Percocet doesn't alleviate all the pain but allows me to function as long as I honor my limitations

I have Norco that my Rheumy. prescribed...I take that ONLY with my worst pain. I can't take them and go to work they wont allow me to be there. I also can only take a half of the pill as a whole one makes me sick. I really refrain from taking it. When I do it is because I have tolerated all the pain I could. I first made it clear that I did not want narcotics it made me feel worse...but once I had all my meds started and the side effects settled down...I found that it did help. You are correct it does help take the edge off and makes it bearable. To say it makes it all go away... I do not believe that to be the case. I also fear becoming addicted so I use it only as a last resort never on a regular basis.

I am still in a discovery stage so I am still learning...I seek out the Senior Fibro folks (those who have been diagnosed longer) for the most sound advise.
