Tests came back negative

i know it is frustrating not to know the cause...you might ask what can he do to help you get walking again. PT, drugs or other things even like acupuncture...just anything that might help even if they do not know. At least they know what it is, so hopefully they can at least put you on PT regiment maybe.

One thing i have felt is negative is good but i can see why you would like to know what the cause is...since you have auto immune disease already why not see a rheum as well to have him check out autoimmune possibilities?

I agree that it is excellent news that it is not MS which can just be devastating disease. I would think that your car insurance plus settlement would be paying for your medical bills...guess depends on who's fault but your own insurance should have covered some of it,i would hope. People forget that they have medical on their auto insurance.

i am really sorry and can hear your frustration at not knowing....and am trying to think of possible doctors...i always ask what they would do if you were their family member. I go on all nero forums and start asking around to see if anyone is like you or even similar.

I can say this...bone spurs are normal and just part of aging process. The catch is what the spurs hit that can make them problems. My mom had severe pain due to her spurs but TENs unit worked wonderfully. She lost weight too and the pain stopped completely so possible it might help...would not hurt for sure. I am so sorry and hope others can offer better advice.

Hi Kallee,

Hang in there. It sounds like some of the people on here could lead you to an answer to your medical issue faster than your doctors.

Have you considered having your husband go into the appointment with you and advocate for you, including asking your docs if the problem could be radiculopathy and requesting an MRI of the lower spine? Maybe hearing it come from a more objective person and a man might persuade your doctor to look again, because you're right, you're the one who has to live with the problems. I know that if I were a doctor, I'd be motivated to do research on the topic to try and find out what's going on instead of throwing up my hands and calling it a day. If nothing else, you yourself could google radiculopathy to see if it fits or not. If not, you could google your symptoms and see what comes up. If yes, then you could google what is done for radiculopathy and print it out then bring it to your doc and ask if this might pertain to you and could you use the same treatment.

Good luck and keep us posted. I hope you can get the man of stone to start moving and checking into the causes for your bum leg.

I agree that it might help to have your husband come with you to advocate on your behalf. Doctors don't shrug things off as easily when the husband is there. It also helped my husband to hear from my rheumy that I rarely complain of level 8-9 pain - now he takes me seriously. Prep your husband to keep asking questions but show no anger. Anger will shut a doctor down.

The suggestions of tens units and researching radiculopathy are great. Another search term that may help is "dermatomes". A regional map of the human body as it is affected by spinal nerves is very helpful.
