Tired

I’m always tired no matter how much I sleep I don’t hurt like a lot of you it’s mostly dull aches but my hands hurt all the time and drs don’t want to listen just send me for stupid tests that I have to pay for because my insurance ldoesn’t cover it. I’m really tired of being tired any thoughts are welcome

That’s totally it i could sleep for hrs. I sympathize with you.maybe someday we will find a cure. Gentle hugs back

Hi Girly, Are you sure you're not talking about me???? I am so tired so much of the time--today has been a struggle just to get out of bed and feed myself. Oh, and my hands!!! I have other pain, sometimes more than aches, but my hands hurt terribly. I am always squeezing and rubbing and wringing them together to relieve the pain-it helps a little.

As far as I am concerned, once you get the initial blood panel (which involves about every blood test in the world, I think, as they took about a quart of blood--at least it seemed that way--and you are diagnosed with fibro, there is no need for other tests unless some different symptom rears its ugly head. Do you go to a rheumatologist?? Mine told me the vast majority of my symptoms were related to fibro, although I do have arthritis in my hands (and neck and back and feet). The last time I had a test was when I had one of my zone-out spells in front of a friend--my ears start ringing, I get woozy, then suddenly I'm gone, my friend said completely unresponsive for about 3 minutes but my eyes wide open. She insisted I get tested. Guess what--it was just fatigue! Fibro strikes again.

What helps me is

  • eating as heathily as I can-lots of veggies and fruit but also lots of protein
  • exercising as much as I can when I can--I can't always, but just hauling my butt around the block helps--but start slow, just a few minutes at first
  • staying away from sugar as much as possible. I simply don't keep much in the way of sweets in the house.

Of course I can't always do all these things all the time, I'm no saint, but I try and it does help. But I still have days like today when all I want to do is stay in bed. And I do. I watch a lot of movies and TV streaming on Netflix and read a lot and nap and usually the next day I am a little better.

You will be in my prayers, and remember you are very much not alone!!!

Hugs, Kimberly :)

I had a sleep study done by my nero dr I did not have sleep apnea but I never went into sound sleep because my whole body jerked all the time she but me on lyrica and requip and they have helped some. I was not as tired during the day and the fog I was having improved.

You just described my life to a t I hope you feel better soon Also try to rest when we can and forge ahead hugs to you to tina

Purple butterfly I also had a sleep study there is nothing wrong with me they say the neuro dr said it was all in my head there is nothing wrong with me had the arthritis panel nothing no Lyme disease no carpal tunnel even though they did the surgery once I give up font know where else to go no one listens

Have you not been diagnosed with fibro? The arthritis panel should have shown that, I would think. Don't give up, Girly, there is some doctor in your area who will listen!!

Gentle Hugs, Kimberly :)

Hi purplebutterfly...I've had FMS/CFS for 20+ yrs now! Not one doctor I've ever been to has helped me except Dr. Richard Becker...Healthtv.net. He is a recovering cancer patient for over 10 yrs. He says "we" will NOT have REM sleep without Vitamin B6. I'm recommending this to you because I did NOT know that at the time, but read something about B6 @bedtime "helping" with sleep, along with D3 5000 iu. Now I know why I am sleeping through the night, undisturbed except for maybe ONE bathroom stop! Good luck! Lori

Kimberly,

I remember reading about gloves for people with arthritis. I'm enclosing a link for them. I suggest that if you're interested in them that you look at several brands and read the reviews on them. Here is the link to one such product: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Imak-arthritis-Gloves-Compression-Blood-Circulation-Cotton-Lycra-Breatheable-NEW-/320804865399?pt=US_CSA_MWA_Gloves_Mittens&var=&hash=item4ab175c577

Also if your pain is mainly in the base of your thumb or slightly higher, this really helps! I had one and wore it frequently but lost mine. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Comfort-Thumb-Support-Brace-and-Spica-Most-Comfortable-/111099802186?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item19de10724a

No I haven’t all the docs I have seen say its in my head and I’m crazy and lazy I can’t find one to listen to me or beleive its fibro

OK, darling, time to get yourself to the right doctor. I Googled for Rheumatologists in your area, there are several. Here is one list I found: http://www.healthgrades.com/physician/dr-edward-reardon-2cpkx

Get on the phone and start calling until you can get an appointment. Make sure they do FMS, the majority of Rheumys do. They will *not* tell you it is all in your head.

Here is a good, comprehensive article on fibro with a short quote from it below: http://www.niams.nih.gov/Health_Info/fibromyalgia/

A doctor familiar with fibromyalgia, however, can make a diagnosis based on criteria established by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR): a history of widespread pain lasting more than 3 months, and other general physical symptoms including fatigue, waking unrefreshed, and cognitive (memory or thought) problems.

It is not in your head, you are not alone, just find a doc. I will be praying for you!!!!

Huggssss, Kimberly :)

Thanks, Sweetie, I really appreciate the info!! But I am way ahead of you! I have been wearing arthritis gloves to bed for over 10 years, I get them from the Dr. Leonard's catalogue. The ones you found are really nice looking, tho, I like that they leave your fingertips free, I might have to order a pair!!! Then I could wear them during the day too!

I also have thumb braces for both hands and wear them when needed. I have knee and ankle braces too--in fact, I have a whole drawer full of braces for various needs.

The brace you found on ebay is a very good price, if anyone else needs one, I paid $50 for mine through my orthopedist :(

Thank you so much for your thoughts and for the links!!!

Gentle Hugs, Kimberly :)

Hi everyone,

Can I just say that it is doing my heart good to hear all of you say how tired you are. And, I do not mean that I am glad you are all tired all the time also but just good for me to hear I am not alone. The fatigue is horrible! Sometimes I cannot even move. It is so hard to explain the fibro tired, as I call it. I am sorry you are all suffering with it as I am but thank you! I hope you all understand what I mean.

hi , the tiredness is debilitating I just have to put my head down I started again to flare at the weekend and the tiredness has taken control of me again !! hugs angie xx this hot weather isn't helping xx

I would rate my fatigue and back pain as the two top annoying symptoms. I am afraid my boyfriend will lose patience over my fatigue and leave me like my husband of 25 yrs did.he is a super sweet guy but how much is someone expected to sacrifice to be with me? My fatigue and back pain limit everything I do. I am only able to be up and about for short periods of time unless it is nice warm sunny summer weather. Rain or snow? Cold? Forget it.

You are very welcome, Kimberly!

Like you, mine were a fortune through the orthopedist. And they didn't even fit. So I got some of the wrist/thumb braces via Amazon. Very comfy and a good price.

LOL, your drawer of braces sounds like it could have a nice conversation with my drawer of them! They'd have so much in common!

PS: My sister's dumb dog - the one that inadvertently bit me - also chewed up my thumb/wrist brace. Think it's time to get a new one!
