WHAT is this NOISE?

TY Siskiya.

Gosh you DID happen to move to one of the few places in CA that gets snow. I am SO ready to get out of here, but can't leave my Mom and she won't move. I guess I'll have to tough it out, cuz if I moved out of my province, I would have to start over to try to get disability somewhere else. Just hoping for a milder winter. This year I'll have to hire someone to shovel and scrape ice off the car on the days that i have to take Mom or myself to a Dr. appt. which iis getting more and more often for Mom.

Sheila - It's great to hear that something is working for you! I've never heard of D-Robose, so I had to look it up online. Was that recommended by your doctor? I'll ask my doctor about it to see if I can try it.

I am sorry to hear about the flu and the flareup - I guess FM can be triggered so easily. Do you have difficulty distinguishing flu from FM in the beginning stage? I feel like I have the flu all the time, so it's very difficult for me to know when I got some bug. By the time I realize I am sick, it's too late - my husband always ends up taking me to the urgent care.

Fibro-Chou,

Your Dr. won't know anything about D-ribose. They are only taught about expensive prescriptions, not natural remedies. The doctors gave up on me so I started doing my own studies of the newest research for Fibro, which my doctors refused to research for me. This M.D. specializes in fatigue-based illnesses and he is where I like to study info from www.endfatigue.com.

Fibro usually doesn't have a fever, flu does, but I have often said Fibro feels like the worst flu you ever had in your life, but it doesn't go away. We need to keep up on our vitamin C during cold and flu season. It's good defense and also heals the adrenal glands, which is an issue in most of us with fibro, CFS, MS, lupus, etc.

Thanks for the link. I've heard about "From Fatigue to Fantastic" and seen it in various places. Have you read it?

I know what you mean - I've given up on regular doctors, too. They don't know anything about nutrition. Many doctors in my area don't even treat FM - I've been denied for care.

I see an MD who uses both western and alternative medicine. Her office has a natural supplement store and the woman who works there is a naturopathic nutritionist, so I can ask her questions. She was the one who warned me that I should be careful with poultry because it's inflammatory and can increase pain. The supplements she recommended for me after doing some tests helped me in the past. I think she will know about it or at least heard about it. My kinesiology doctor also prescribes natural supplements.

That's awesome that you found an M.D/naturopath. That's what I wish I had, but no such thing here, so I study on my own. So glad you are open to alternatives and have had some luck with them. I'm happier with natural meds too. I read the book but it was so many years ago I'd need to read it again to tell you what it's about. He posts so many articles from the book on his website that the website seems helpful enough. He has written about 4 books now.

Sheila,

I sought alternative treatments because the western medicine alone did not work and my body became weaker and sicker with all the pharmaceutical drugs they were giving me. I realized that drugs are not the cure or even a treatment for FM.

Yes, I am lucky to have found my doctors here. My kinesiology doctor helped me recover from bed-ridden to finishing school and working.

Wow Fibrochou, congrats on that much success!! I am the same way with prescriptions. I am sensitive/allergic to almost every prescription I try, and the medical world just didn't have much to offer. I like it when naturopaths/nutritionistys say that most symptoms are a lack of some body chemical or nutrient, and they are pretty sure our bodiies are not suffering from a lack of lyrica or cymbalta, etc. haha! I'm happy for people that those things work for,but I feel like my body does have a shortage of D-ribose, which is helping me so much. I'm so impressed with how it has helped others that I think it could be the answer for fibro just like insulin is an answer for diabetes. I'm probably repeating myself. Sorry. Most people who have tried it and said it didn't work, were not taking enough or taking it for long enough. First time I tried it, it didn't do as much as it did for me, but this time I studied the right dosage and it's amazing. My daughter is in remission due to D-ribose, and going into a pageant to celebrate her new life in a big way.
