Alternative medicine a must- I think?

It got to b to much so I stopped taking lyrica and cymbalta and a few other meds muscle relaxer I just felt horrible and so sick that I decided they really weren't helping enough to appreciated deal with the side effects. I am looking for alternative medication or anything that true helps me feel like "Me" Suggestions are greatly appreciated :)

Hi, good to hear from you, aarchangelea! The very best advice I can give you for someone who has this kind of difficulty with mainstream AMA meds is to find a good Holistic type Dr, otherwise you could either waste a ton of money on trial and error with supplements, or take something else that could make you worse!

I think everyone should be taking a good pharmaceutical grade vitamin, and make sure there are no vitamin deficiencies. A radiant diet never hurts either! Meaning lots of fresh fruits and veggies, fresh fish.

So what do you think?

I hate to say it but after many years of being a gunnie pig, I take my loratab 10/350 3 times a day the rest of my meds I take more for migraines . I also do as stated most of my diet is fruit n veg. I don't eat any meat or white foods.. But I still suffer daily.

Yes, sometimes it's really difficult to get substantial relief with the natural stuff, that's why I think someone like a Holistic Doctor would be your best bet, they will have the strongest of the naturals at their disposal, and often do testing that would be a good idea for the AMA to seriously consider.

Our member 'Allergic' is a good one to talk to about this, she is a nurse by profession, had trouble with many of the meds, so now sees both an AMA Dr and a Holistic type of physician. She's the nicest gal, and always glad to help out with good advice and vast knowledge. Her photo is a red rosebud, she's listed under the members as 'Allergic', and goes by Ally.

Hope this helps! Feel better soon!

Sounds good thank you, I'll check on the holistic Dr.

Thanks to all of you!!! I feel very blessed to have found this site. I am also having trouble with Cymbalta, Trazodone, zanaflex ( muscle relaxer ) now my doc gave me the trial packs for Savella. I looked them all upon drug interactions and they have sever warnings.:(( I am afraid I am going to die from the meds. I am looking forward to Dr. Q to join us. Thanks SK for sharing article it was very knowledgeable and explained alot. PSTD

Blessings and Hugs,

Grace

Grace - cymbalta and savella have some of the same properties and are in the same family (or so my doctor told me) as I couldn't take either - froze up my muscles instead of relaxing them and making me feel better. Most of the drugs we take for long periods of time must be weaned off slowly, or the side affects and withdrawal symptoms are horrendous. If you are having symptoms that don't seem right to you - call your doctor immediately! Why take something that is going to make us sicker? I often wonder if these doctors would prescribe them for their loved ones?!? take care, hugs~ Sandi

I have been going to Bowen Therapy sessions that have really helped with my pain. I have been going once a week for three weeks now and I can see a major difference. The results are a chiropractor and massage all in one. I recommend checking it out. Also there are lots of herbs and vitamins out there that are supposed to help similar to the medications and finding a good holistic dr. is a great recommendation that SK had. My doctor is my primary care physician but she also has told me about things I can take that are not pharmaceuticals. I am so lucky to have found her.

Hi Grace,

Sometimes the percentage of people who are adversely affected by the meds is a very tiny percentage.

In my opinion, unless I'm are financially sound enough to use holistic Physicians, as few insurances will cover anyone other than an MD, and standard AMA meds. I try what my Dr recommends, as I will know soon enough if there is a problem with them. My General Practitioner is 5 minutes away and I can usually see him the day I call or the following day, if I need him.

Dr Q has placed information in a 'drop box', we are trying to figure out how everyone can have access, as the way it is set up, I have to list every single e-mail address of those I wish to share the information with. There are nearly 2.000 members here. So Renie and I are trying to figure this out, and I just asked dee to take a look and see if there is another way for general access.

Yes, we are so incredibly fortunate that Dr Q has joined us to share the results of his life work. He is willing to answer questions, but only those directly regarding his information.

Is this something we can do on our own, with the exception of finding out our hormone levels? I went to a seminar by a local chiropractor last year and that was part of the therapy he used, with oxygen and sometime of pedaling with your hands for twenty minutes at a time to retrain your brain. A lot was so out there - and out if pocket costs were high $5000, as insurance doesn’t cover.
I find we tend to grasp at anything for help and are weary to do so for some things. I’m really interested in reading your book!

I go to a holistic doctor for my fibro and I have a "cocktail" of supplements that I take and within a week I felt more energetic and got better sleep. Good Luck!!!!

I went Vege. I feel better in my guts and have more energy. Problem is the pain wont go no matter what I do. Its not just my body its the severe migraines that I have almost daily that is killing me. I can't handle the lights in public places. I don't really leave my home at this point. I have no friends other then Fb and people from childhood. I can't drive.... FML Any Ideas for the migraines?
