Hi Bet,

Well, there are tons of members here that would love to be friends with you and, since they struggle with the same limitations, you are sure to pick up some tips on what you can do. Plus the friendship that is available here is awesome. Remember, alot of us are in the same boat, alone or even if not alone, feel alone with this fibro condition.

You have to ask yourself, what is it that I enjoy or never got a chance to do? If things you used to do, are not possible now, then this is an opportunity to find new things. I know I have to be creative and think outside the box. I just stopped dwelling on the old things I used to do. Right now, and until something changes, I will find new things.

I like to read, research, grow small plants (can't do the big stuff anymore), cook some (easier recipes), did some beading and making jewelry, go for short drives, photography, take classes, meet other people, just to name a few, ideas will come to you. Other people always inspire me, so talking to strangers even will make ideas come. Like the member here, love talking to them. I like being at home, but if i dont go out and get around some life, I get bored. :')

You just need a little kick start.

Hugs,

Ally

Well, I agree with allergic. There are so many links going on to each post it is hard to keep up. If you like to shop, let me know. I have some good bargain and cash back sites.

I have days like that but you sound like you're giving up. Please don't do that! Have you tried knitting or crocheting, just something to do to keep your hands busy? You may not be able to do it some days but it's something you can put down on bad days and pick up again when you're feeling better. The thing I'm finding out is I have to keep following my dreams and adapt them to what I can do. I make jewelry but I have problems going to shows and selling, so I'm trying to sell it on Etsy.com, I have not sold anything yet but I will not quit trying. Fight On! Lil Al

Aloha. Now that I am retired due to disability I have all this time but limited as to what I can do. I used to love cooking but not anymore. I also was very social & would go out to varies events, go to parties & picnics… now not so much since I have to use my scooter. Walker. Or. Cane & I don’t like people seeing me like that. I do go out for lunch with friends & go swimming at the YWCA which is close by. I always liked to draw so once in awhile I go Utube & they have drawing lessons for beginners. It’s something to do & I enjoy doing it. I also read a lot, watch movies, play with my precious cat. That’s what u should do get a cat. They are very independent & are so cute to watch them when they play. They do sleep a lot tho.
Anyway wishing you all a happy holiday & less painful new year!!

hi bet, im a hair dresser who can no longer work 16 hours days, my job never felt like a job. i love it so much and i can no longer do it except my family members here and there. I decided to research how to become healthier. i found any processed foods, no genetically modified foods, and no dairy that has antibiotics or estrogen. i don't eat yogurt or pretty much any dairy unless its organic. i drink almond and coconut milk, use different flours for baking, raw natural sugar. eating this way has taken my pain down to about 15% of what it was. i was on 3 seperate pain pills and not be able to do anything during the day. the only pain pill i now take is cymbalta but that was given to me for depression. I have been able to cut my cymbalta in half, trazadone in half, and nuvigil in half. my meds are still 1000,00 a month but i really feel with the proper diet i will eventually only need to take 3 for the rest of my life. i take amour thyroid because i don';t have a thyroid, an anxiety pill and a muscle relaxer. anxiety is so high with us. i do sewing during the day, or crochet. i have been able to work on my nails.. i wanted to become really good at artificial nails and nail art. now i am! that makes me excited, i make journals to sell. start with your eating and start doing something you like with your hands while your sitting up in bed and go out once a week. you do need to get out. when your having a "fibro" day come here and talk to us! gentle hugs and love

twintch......thank you for sharing your diet changes. I have reduced my pain levels and number of bad flares dramatically by folloiwing similar diet changes as yourself. Plus I have had to eliminate gluten, dairy, gmo, soy, no sugar, no caffiene either etc. I have gotten off all medication except for my armour thyroid by doing this.

Hello,

It has taken so much energy - mental and physical - just to realize that I cannot do most of what I was able to a few months ago. I fight with myself daily.

Do you know how to do "handy" work? Like Crochet or Knitting??? It would be good for you to learn, if you don't. It's very relaxing and rewarding. I have even started my own business which is listed on ETSY - https://coverbabies.etsy.com - and have made some money selling my items. It gets my mind off of myself and how miserable I am and let's me feel somewhat productive again.

Hope you begin to feel better.

Merry Christmas to all.

Good for you Lil Al. You and I are both using the same outlet - ETSY - to help ourselves to keep busy and productive. It's the only way I could think of, besides reading, that takes my mind off of myself.

Hope you sell something soon and feel rewarded.

Merry Christmas

Good for you, twintch. Sounds like you are on the right path. Thank you for sharing.

Have the teeshirt for that one. People come and go in my life once they know I am sick faster than a pig on Crisco! We are all here for you! Hopefully, one of us is relatively close to you for possible visits!

Happy Holidays!

Ally, this is such a wonderful post. I totally agree with you. We find new things to do or modify our own interests. And our computers give us so many ways to find outlets. I've read others' posts about using their computers to sell things on Etsy as well as learn to draw. Bet, you have a lot of options available to you, even if it's a timeless occupation like knitting and crocheting, as suggested on here. I suggest to look at everything on here and see if any get your heart pumping a little faster and then try them if you are excited about them! Follow your interests or better still, follow your dreams.

Ooh, I'm glad you mentioned this~I'd love to learn to draw better and didn't know that you cuold learn on Youtube! I'll be doing this, thanks to you, plus looking up how to crochet. Thank you so much!

Hugs,

Petunia

Nannygin,

How cute and clever of an idea! I hope it catches on! Very practical in the cold northern regions. My sis has a felt one that I got her several years ago and loves to wear it to work to stay warm inside of the office. Maybe you could expand to include adults as well? Just a thought...

Awwww Bet I will be your friend. Just add me ,K.
