I have been having major issues with my throat and larynx. After I eat, I often start to choke and end up coughing/choking so much that I will almost throw-up.
I have been diagnosed with a dysfunctional larynx (it feels like sandpaper half the time). But most of what they are saying (the dr, the PT, and my massage therapist) is that I have really tight neck muscles in the front and that it's those muscles that are pressing on my voice box and causing the choking.
I'm still unsure why eating aggravates it so much. I drink tons of water to try to help, and I eat really small meals, but even a couple bites can send me into a major choking fit.
I have not had this issue but I was wondering if you have any type of thyroid disorder that would cause it to enlarge and push on your other neck tissues. Just an idea.
Oh that's interesting. I haven't had my thyroid checked in a while, but have historically been okay. I'll ask about it. The movement of eating might have something to do with it. Maybe I should start by massaging the muscleson my neck before I eat.
