Ladies I am struggling with my underwear, please can anyone help. My biggest problem is my bra always hurt. Just bought some sloggi ones and even they hurt me. Anything tight is just agony, tights, pance etc. In the evenings or late afternoon I change to my night clothes just to get relief. The only time I do not do that if I know anyone is going to call, which is only occasionally.

I don’t know that I can offer any help really, trying to figure that kind of thing out myself. I switched to a sports bra, partly for that reason. That and I couldn’t reach around to fasten a regular bra if my life depended on it.  Some days though even a sports bra doesn’t work - on those days, I have certain tops that I wear that are loose fitting enough that it conceals the fact that I am missing an item of clothing.

Now, if anyone has any ideas for pants - that is what gets me the most right now. Tight clothing anywhere just doesn’t work but especially on the lower half. Many days even loose fitting doesn’t really help as just the material brushing against my skin hurts.

I don’t know how big your “ girls” are but instead of wearing a bra, maybe wear a T-shirt under your clothing. Or maybe two loose fitting T-shirts. I have issues with the texture and weight against my skin. I make sure anything I buy now is soft and light. I find items made of 100% cotton are the best. I also went online to Amazon and looked at loungewear and PJ’s. I bought two outfits that don’t look like PJ’s so I can wear them in public. I made sure they didn’t have elastic around the cuffs of the pants or wrists. They do have cuffs but they are fabric and are loose fitting. You could maybe buy a larger size than normal. I have similar issues with my hands, wrists, ankles and feet. I don’t like wearing shoes or some socks. I wear Birkenstock’s all year even in the winter.

Thank you for your help and suggestions. I have been in touch with a company here in England who specialises in underware especially cotton things. I’ll see how I get on with them.

Thank you for your help. If you put your bra on with the fastening in front and then slide it round to the back it might be easier for you. I have to do this all the time unless it is actually one you do up in front but, even those I can struggle with depending how fibro is behaving and where I am hurting. I do hope you can sort out the problem where to get pance from without the elastic hurting you. If you do please will you share it as it might help others in a similar situation. Thank you.

I can relate. I find that bras with a wide band at the bottom and molded cups are the most comfortable. I did a search on Amazon for “longline” bras and found some that I like. On days when my clothes hurt, I wear loose, long dresses (dressy or casual, depending on where I’m going) that put pressure only on my shoulders. I prefer sleeveless or short sleeve since I get hot easily, and then I put a soft cardigan (or unlined blazer) over it if needed. Bare legs are fine under that kind of dress. Cotton underwear works better for me, and I buy a couple of pairs that are one size too big for those days.

I have similar issues with bras. Unfortunately, I have to wear one when I leave the house (42DD), so I look for cotton with some stretch, and a wide band at the bottom. I’m constantly looking for better ones.

I’ve been searching for a comfortable bra for 4 years! I can hardly tolerate anything when things are bad. I have a few that are just ribbed cropped camis that are very comfortable. One of my all-time favorites is by Gap, just called the seamless ribbed bralette:

Not sure if that link will work but anyway, it’s very comfortable. No tags, hooks, hardware to poke and surprisingly supportive although I don’t need much. On super bad days I have some tops that have a lot going on like ruffles, lace, patterns…I will wear one of those and go braless.
For pants…honestly, I just buy pants that are too big for lounging at home, and for work I try to make sure they have some stretch in them so they’re not binding. I wear long loose skirts a lot too when weather permits.

I know exactly how you feel, when I am home, I go braless, but when I have to, I have found wearing a strapless bra, with no padding, or anything else. It works to a point, so does some lose fitting sports bra’s. Hope this helps, because of other back challenges, I don’t wear anything tight, I can’t… Good luck rosebud…
