Costochondritis

I had PT earlier today and my ribs were killing me. It's not the first time I've had this problem but today was different. My PT was working around the area and told me that she thinks it might be an alignment issue but the more she worked in the area, she stopped and told me that if she can't fix the problem then I might have to see my doctor because I might have Costochondritis.

I wanted to know if anyone else has this and if there are treatments for it? I haven't been diagnosed with anything and have PT again on Monday so we can check the area again. Just looking for some information seeing that the issue won't go away.

When I first got ill the pain in my right ribs was intolerable. It was finally diagnosed as costochondritis. The meds they gave me help a little....anti inflammatory drugs and my favorite steriods.

The pain is still there but it isn't as bad. Good luck.

Hi Bast75,

So sorry that you suffer this, I had just posted this discussion topic on another site. I have had it so severely that I could barely pick up a dinner plate, or tea cup!

This is so very common with people with fibro and autoimmune. Here is a list of all the discussions on this topic from the archives of LWF. Hope it helps!

Wishing you well,

i would see the doctor and let him decide the meds do help.

My PT did tell me that I need to take an anti-inflammatory. My doctor originally put me on Mobic but I had an allergic reaction to it. Might have to take something over-the-counter.

Thanks SK, I did a search yesterday and only two discussions came up. I think I might have spelled it wrong yesterday.

My PT and I discussed that. I see her again on Monday and then we're going to talk about what needs to be done next (seeing the doctor).

Try and lessen your stress too if you can. Helps tremendously with calming and preventing trigger of costo.

Thanks BaltimoreBaby. I was just reading last night how stress affects it. It seems to affect just about everything I have going on with me right now.

Yes and stress certainly makes our fibro symptoms much worse as well. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Thank you Lovett. I'm feeling a little better today.
