Hi Crystal,

Welcome to the group! It's good to hear from you!

I have had this experience, the stress test came back clean, however when my Rheumatologist touched my ribs and I nearly went through the ceiling, he diagnosed this problem as Costochondritis.

I am not suggesting that this is what you have, as I am not attempting to diagnose you, I am not a Doctor, but this was the explanation to my years or chest and rib pain.

Please make sure you see your Doctor and discuss this possibility with him.

I wish you well,

SK

Tendon, muscle, bones-yes.

Hi Crystal,
I have not heard of that before.
It’s good that you went to the hospital. Chest pain can be scary.
I really hope the pain is subsiding. : ( keep us updated ! Take care

Thanks for the help going to discuss that with my doctor

Hi Crystal

yes I have heard of chest pain arising from bony inflammation but I have brachial plexus pain, as inflammation of the nerves arising from the spine to the shoulder blades which gives me significant chest pain. So yes this fibromyalgia is strange. cheers and Look after yourself. barb

Hi Crystal...thought I'd reply to this b/c I had experienced the same thing. I was taken to the nearest hospital by ambulance with the 'suspicion' of having a 'silent heart attack'. The Dr. in the ER did a battery of tests on me including an ECG and all was normal. His diagnosis was that my fibro pain was extreme and not being managed by meds...thus::I was having an anxiety attack which was giving me chest pains/discomfort. Actually, I was not on any meds for the fibro b/c my Dr. was unable to find anything that my body could tolerate. I have a very low tolerance for all the meds that lots of people on this board take seemingly without bad side effects.

I'm thinking you were given a relatively good explanation but I certainly would have more tests done to confirm there is nothing wrong with your heart. -just my input and opinion-

I'm sure you will get many more replies and possible suggestions.

It's a miserable condition we have been stricken with and so very difficult to find meds that give us relief.

I haven’t found one med that actually helps me, lots of side effects but nothing that. In any way decreases the pain.

Did you know that there is a site called beyond blue that helps people deal with anxiety? Hope that helps Barb

I have had pain shooting down my arms and up to my neck and feet at times, it’s scary but my MD attributes it to this horrible Fibro

I'm so glad you went to the ER! I know how frightening this is! I hope you can get some relief very soon! Sending good thoughts your way!

Yes, I get costochondritis quite often. VERY painful. I'm treated with antibiotics and pain meds.

Hi Crystal - I have had skeletal pains in my chest for years. But, about 4 years ago, I was in an awful lot of pain and it scared me. I went to the ER and the doctor did a battery of tests on me. I had told him beforehand that I had Fibro and after looking at all the results he told me - as my own doctor told me several years before, that it was pain from my Fibro. Sometimes when I have pains in the chest, I just barely touch the area and it hurts, also it will be swollen a little. This happens to me wherever I have flare-ups. Glad you got checked though! Laurie

Are you seeing a rheumatologist? You have not said what you tried.

Not seeing a rheumatologist. All the meds I have tried I was on for one day do the last med was cymbalta had the worst side effects from that one I’m now on as allow its been two weeks and (knock on wood) no weird side effects starting the regular dose tommorow been on a step up to build my tolerance.

Hmm I have never heard of inflammation in your chest because of skeletal pain... I hope you are feeling better now.. I have gone to the hospital before for chest pain but they told me it was my anxiety.. Wish I could be of more help. Hope you feel a bit better..

Yes I have had costochondritis frequently and it was the worst pain when I was first diagnosed with fibro. I have found that a heating pad, bath, and shower help. Also the Bowen therapy that I am doing once a week has helped tremendously decrease the pain.

I take Tramadol for the pain and it seems to be the only thing that has helped with the pain along with Lyrica.

Hope you find relief soon.

Crystal,
Not sure what you are taking for fibro but work with your doctor to give it a chance to work. It took me some time and patience working with my pain management doctor to start getting my symptoms under control. It’s a work in progress. I am on Lyrica and Tramadol. They are helping now that the dose of Lyrica has gone up. I have had pain in my chest from fibro before. It can be very bad. It is also not unusual for fibro sufferers. Just keep working on slowly raising your dose of medication and it will hopefully decrease along with all your pain. Good luck with your treatment.
