Hi fellow members, The fatigue has hit me like a brick wall, just can,t help but wonder if it isn,t something else? Once you are diagnosed with fibro they stop looking at other diagnosises. What are your thoughts and experiences with this?
My experience is that the longer I have fibro, the more fatigue I experience. In fact, I was about to start my own thread about this very topic before I saw yours. All I know is that it overwhelms me. I have such little energy these days. I'm also experiencing loss of lung function it seems. I'm breathing heavily, not being able to get much breath. Might be asthma. I don't know. All I know is I'm always sleeping. I don't know how to decrease it beyond taking my asthma inhaler. Hitting a brick wall is a good description of it. I'll be interested to see what others are experiencing and any suggestions they might have.
hi. a severe case of cfids ( chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome) hit me about 29 years ago, the first ten i was completely bedridden and had to be cared for. In addition to relentless pain, fatigue , flu like symptoms many other things jumped on board that train- I also got gran mal seizures , aphasia , vertigo, migrains with auras. I was tested for everything under the sun which did rule out alot of things but still many things that have happened still have no rhyme or reason. some things can be diagnosed and treated so i think just to make sure to rule out stuff is very important. You did not mention if fatigue and pain have totally disabled you and i pray they have not. I hope you are able to function a good percentage of the time and i do hope this is so in your case. these illnesses seem to vary from person to person and people function at different levels. all the best to you and i send you HUGGGGGS
Suzie
Whoa! That sounds like a nightmare, Suzie! And I presume that CFIDS is different than Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Are the two illnesses related at all? Oh my, I just reread what you wrote - you were bedridden for 10 years?? Oh God! You must have a tremendous amount of patience. Bless you for handling it and managing to get through it. I hope you're no longer bedridden at this point and can get out and about a bit. Wow. Hugs to you!!!!
My fatigue has become so overwhelming and I asked my doctor what else it could be. After three months they discovered Anemia and added iron, in the meantime I had to leave my job because I was so tired all the time. During my last visit with my doctor he said all of my blood is showing signs of defincey, cells are too small to help oxygen circulate.
Cells are too small to help oxygen circulate??? Is that a birth defect or something? Or have your cells changed size due to anemia? Or fibro? That's just really weird! Has the iron helped you? Do you still show signs of anemia? I forgot that my doctor said I had slight anemia. I guess I'll need to get some iron to take. Thank you for your input, Mollie. I hope i remember to follow up on this.
Well I got to thinking the same thing too and trust me when you start not wanting to drive and fearing having to drive after an appointment because you are aware that you may have walked too much or done too much and you might "space out" while driving, which ive been told by my doctor is my brain taking mini naps. I definitely wonder if maybe something else isnt up i just blank out and forget to bring it up when it comes time to bring it up to the correct doctor which im not sure which doctor I should ask about to this
i take topamax at bedtime and Ive asked and they just keep telling me to try to conserve my energy or to try to do more which frustrates the ever living life out of me because I cant be any less active than i am right now and on the flip side my body will turn on me if im any more active than i am right now its unsafe to have me go to PT or any other appt alone and expect me to be safe to drive home even if the drive is only 10 minutes away because my mind is actively trying to doze off on me, i catch myself getting comfy behind the wheel and its scary if i fell asleep standing or sitting (which i do) no big deal biggest issue would be i missed my name being called however driving i could kill someone or myself over not being alert is a dangerous thing
The fatigue has hit me like a brick wall too. I just started Ribose. 3 tbsp of Ribose powder is the dose to begin with (1 tbsp three times per day) and then you decrease if it is working for you. It is supposed to help with energy. The theory came from the book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia." There is a whole regime to follow in there. I am not really sure about it but I was willing to try the Ribose (a form of sugar). I put it into coffee or tea and take it three times a day. It has only been a few days. Nothing so far but we will see. Dr. Oz mentioned it as well on his show. I just googled Ribose and Fibromyalgia and some videos and information came up. Hope we can all through ideas out there to help as fatigue/exhaustion is terrible!!! Hang in there!!!
