Hi, Thank you that is good info for everyone!
I had a doctor in North Carolina that is famed for Fibromyalgia, Dr. Fletchas. His testing began with your iodine and one of his theories as well as many is the Thyroid hormone in the body is the culprit. Most of us are Hashimoto and reading all those connections sure makes sense.
He did a urine test on me, 24 hour I think? And, discovered that I have a non-functioing Sodium Iodide Symporter. It is the first step in the biosynthesis of iodine-containing thyroid hormones. The gene is expressed primarily in thyroid tissues, but also in breast, colon, and ovary.
Dr. Fletchas had me take 6 glasses of water and put my iodine drops in them prepared each day on the counter drinking all along until they were gone
He said not everyone with Fibromyalgia has a non-functioning symporter but many do.
I never felt any better from the treatment nor the water though I know its healthy to do so for all sorts of reasons. Of course I take all of the other conductors especially magensium malate but I am wondering what the Sodium part of the Iodide Symporter means .... Each time you research it you hear only about the Iodide issue.
Flushing toxins out with clear water and staying hydrated is so very important but did not change anything for me. I have to take 3 thyroid treatments.
