OMG cramps help me

I have really really bad cramps. Lastnight I had one in my calf, ankle and arch of my feet . When I get the cramps it is almost always at night. I take potassium everyday and my last blood work my potassium was good. I work and I am up on my feet alot in one day could that be what dose it. If you know of anything that could help me please let me know and thank thank you. I also drink alot of water in a day

Hi i had this problem when i worked. My doctor suggested i have 2 pair of work shoes were one for a day and the switch and to get new shoes every 6 months. I tried several kinds before i found the ones that i liked. I also try and take a warm bath before bed.

Hi Maggiemay,

I too had horrible cramps, in my calves (side and back), back of thighs, and arches of my feet. I so understand - Big hugs to you!! I started to dread going to sleep at night. I take one magnesium/calcium tablet a day, usually in the afternoon when I don't take other meds, as magnesium can interfere with absorption with other meds. The cramping has been reduced to very seldom. If I forget to take the magnesium for a couple of days, the cramps return. I too have used epsom salts in my bath love it. My friend who is a MD and pharmacologist says take a shot of milk of magnesia. When the tablets run out I might try that. Do be wary, too much magnesium acts as a laxative and can make you feel nauseous.

Good luck,

Singingtrees

Maggie,

One site I was looking at said if you have cramps that last 5-10 minutes multiple times a week you should let your doctor know because if your drinking water and taking potassium supplements it seems like your doing all the right things.

Sorry,

First & foremost speak w/your Primary!!! Ask him/her if you can take what we have suggested!!!.

I get cramping muscles from my sciatic area down the outside of my leg to the outside of my foot. EEEK!!!

(YAAAY for Spring) I go outside & remove 4 leaves off of a dandilion & add the leaves to my afternoon decaf tea. It is bitter tasting, Some places sell dandilion root tea & if you are thinking of what I thot last Summer, the roots to get from your yard have to be from a dandilion that is at least 2 yrs old. I didn't dry the roots I kept them wet & cold in my fridge the whole winter, but the leaves I did dry & use. M

try taking magnesium people say it's potassium you need but lack of magnesium caused craps as well

I feel so embarrassed about my suggestion that I'm almost blushing. Its an old folk remedy passed on to my mother from her friends. However, my mother told it to me and has tried it with success. I tried it and also found that it helped. A bar of soap. Yep, that's right, soap. My mom falls asleep with it on her leg. That didn't do it for me so I rubbed it all on the calf. It helped! I don't know what is in it but it does help with cramps. I'm not sure that it can help everyone or take the pain away from fibro cramps but yes, it did take mine away. It certainly can't hurt to try it. Roll your eyes at the procedure as you try it, if you want.

Since you already drink water, I'm out of ideas but I'm sure that others know more than I on the topic.

GOOD LUCK!!! Those blasted night time cramps are terrible!

hugs,

Petuni

Boy, what a great idea for people who are constantly on their feet.

And I forgot to add that I also got custom made orthodicts that helped me for many years. They're expensive but if they help, oooooooooooooooohhhhhh how much better your feet feel with them!

LOL, I just suggested the same thing!

I use to get bad cramps until I started to take calcium and magnesium at bedtime

Yeah, it seems like those two supplements get depleted in our bodies, causing those horrid cramps, so we need to get more into us. Potassium is also another possibility, although it didn't help me. Water is also important. I found last summer that if I didn't drink at least one glass of water a day that I would get awful cramps.
