I have dated my now husband for 7 years. For three of those years we thought I was normal and relatively healthy. I had weird medical issues that never added up to anything in the doctor's minds my whole life. They tossed it up to me being "dramatic". However, during our fourth year together I woke up one morning and I could not walk without falling down or my whole body shaking uncontrollably. Long story short I ended up getting diagnosed with Chiari I Malformation and had to have brain surgery in November of 2008. I turned 22 a week after my surgery. My husband was only 24. We were young and scared. In fact we still are. However, he told me he saw me lying in that hospital room and it only made him love me more. He tells me all the time I have the strength of a warrior. He gets frustrated when I am in pain because he desperately wants to take the pain away from me. He has picked me up when I couldn't walk, bathed me when I was too weak to do it myself, and other things no man (especially not married to a woman yet) should have to do. We got married two years ago. A month prior to our getting married I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Yet he married me the next month knowing I would never be that 18 year old girl he first met with energy and spirit that overflowed. When I think of Martina McBride's song about the husband helping his wife through cancer I think of my husband. Everyday is a struggle and sometimes we have rough moments when we are just so overwhelmed but God created a man like no other when he made my husband. Don't give up looking for someone to walk this journey with you. I am living proof that some people WILL stick around and hold your hand through the entire process of illness. That is how I get my strength, I fight to live 80 years with him.

So nice to hear from you! What a great story! You have a great guy there, who is very lucky to have you too! You have gone through things most of us have no conception of and are always cheerful, thankful and so supportive of others! Sounds like you two make a really great couple! A very dear friend of mine always said "there's a lid for every jar"! Meaning a perfect fit!
