I too tried Gabapentin and my experience was not a good one either. I had dizziness and blurred vision. Sounds pretty scary the way you describe having mini seizures! Good thing you got off of it. I am now taking Cymbalta and I'll ask my doctor if he feels if the medication is attributing to these involuntary movements.
Well, heaven knows, our nerves are certainly affected by fibro, so perhaps it's the fibro making your nerves jump like this. I mean, if our nerves can burn and tingle and feel numb, then why not feel like they are trembling?
Hello : ) I keep trying to re- send you the message from the other day⦠I donāt think anyone is getting my messages⦠Itās making it difficult to build relationships if the messages im sending, arent getting to them. Iām not sure what to do about it. I guess I will post to certain people and hope they see their name and read it. UHGG ⦠: )
Yeh I was thinking that but I donāt think sheāll get my message. Lol If she post something I will reply to her post like I did with you and let her know. Thank you, have you been doing okay ?
Would you like me to write SK for you? That really is weird that your messages aren't being sent! I'm okay...I'll be even better after Friday is over. I'm having surgery. I prefer not to discuss the details. Just praying that everything will be okay. How about you how have you been feeling lately?
This happens to me often lately also. I thought I was going out of my mind because I am on neurontin 400 mg and a muscle relaxer called skalaxin? I donāt have spelling of that one in front of me but my legs or arms, shoulda or sometime head will have an involuntary movement, sharp, not painful yet very scary and defiantly wakes you right out of a sleep, if Iām luck to be asleep :(. I have had a few EMG tests done on both upper and lower body that show a lot of nerve damage. I too will be asking the neurologist on my next visit if its nerve damage or not? I will keep you post on my end as I too would like to know what you find out! Gentle hugsā¦Doreen
Yes, I would appreciate that Doreen and I will be talking to my doctor. Not sure when. I usually see him now if I have any issues. I don't know why but I wasn't really afraid when I had these involuntary movements. It happens to my head too and I think if anyone would ever notice they would think I'm nuts! It's a little freaky...I believe it is nerve related. I also notice that it happens too when I'm stressed or have overdone things and didn't rest that particular day. The minute I do that's when it starts. Welcome aboard and thank's for the friend add! Look forward to hearing your news...when do you go see the neurologist? Hugs...Sue
Yes, it does happen to me, usually when I'm exhausted! Not sure if that has any bearing on it happening, but it does happen, probably part of the muscle strain/spasm thing, but who really knows!
I would love for you to ask SK for me. Thank you so much! I will pray that your surgery goes well and that you will have peace about it. Thank you for being there. Hopefully Iāll be able to talk to everyone again sometime soon. Love Lisa

Hi SK,
This has nothing to do with this post. I have no other way to let you know that no one is getting my messages and Iām not sure why. Is there anything that can be done? This site is so important to me and now I canāt communicate but by trying to write someone on a reply. Thank you I hate to bother you with this. Please let me know if your able to find anything out. I will really appreciate it. Love fibroerr Lisa
I know exactly what you mean about the mouse! Happens a lot and well it's true about sending emails or clicking too fast. Yes those of us who are experiencing this would like to know as well why this happens. There aren't too many doctors so far that can give us a definite answer only speculation. The way I reason with it is that it doesn't hurt it is more an aggravation. Did you bring it up with your doctor? If so what was his thoughts on it? I am learning there are many things about Fibro that seem to crop up. I don't think worrying about it is necessary. If you have in the least your pain under control and able to function we can be thankful for that! :) Take good care...Hugs...Sue
This is interesting as I am having the jerking movements too. Sometimes itās just my right leg and sometimes itās my entire body. I recently saw my neurologist. I have a history of epilepsy that resolved when I hit puberty. But, I have had 2 concussions in the last 2 1/2 years. So he is having me take an EEG on Thursday to check for seizure activity. I doubt that they will replicate it while in the office. Itās random and only when I am laying down. My sometimes repeat in such a short time frame that it becomes extremely painful. Then is stops. I havenāt figured out why it happens. And my wife and I are very analytical. We usually can figure this type of stuff out. We just canāt.
Itās been 11 years since this thread started. Has anyone found any answers?
Hi there @Shutterbug, Iāve heard of quite a few fibro people with this, so had a bit of a look around, but havenāt seen any explanation up to now that I can remember.
If it were me, Iād be trying to sense if I believe itās more central or peripheral nervous system. Iād be trying things like vagal nerve exercises on it. And like with my focal seizures Iād try supps like GABA to see if serotonin has to do with it.
Hello Shutterbug, I have had my fare share of muscle twitching and jerking. In general, fibromyalgia can cause these symptoms. With my fibromyalgia, I may go months with a certain set of symptoms, and then things suddenly change. Are you taking any medications? Have you checked the side effects of the medications? I was taking Duloxetine for several years without having any issues. Then I started having muscle twitching and jerking especially at bedtime. One time I accidentally kicked my dog off the bed. She now sleeps in a pen for her safety. I am not a doctor. But my doctor had me start taking a magnesium supplement. You definitely will want to talk to your doctor before trying this. Sometimes people who are having ā mini strokesā will have an arm or leg lift up for no reason. I have personally seen this happen. Iām really glad you are seeking medical attention. I know how annoying it is when you try to relax but your body wonāt.
