I have seen it advertised locally now and have wondered if it might be worth a try.
I don’t smoke, so the traditional form is not an option. And, in Kansas, all marijuana is illegal anyway and classed as a schedule I substance - meaning it “has a high potential for abuse and no recognized medical value.”
And you will be charged if you have any amount - even personal use amounts. The first time they catch you it is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine up to $1,000 and/or up to six months in jail. Second time it is a class A misdemeanor with potential penalties of up to a year in jail and/or a fine up to $2,500. After that it is a level 5 drug felony punishable by up to 42 months in prison, and a fine of up to $100,000. As much as I would like to find something that works - it’s not worth that.
CBD products are federally legal in Kansas, but only under certain conditions. The crop used must be industrial and the end product can only be made using the seeds and stalks of the plant, not the flowers or leaves. They also must contain very low levels of THC.
So is this even worth the time and money to try? It’s the THC compound that makes it work isn’t it?
I have found that CBD helps. Unfortunately, along with the relief, I experienced uncontrolled body temperature swings. So hot at times, I wished I could strip right then and there, no matter where I was. It was awful. I always thought it was my thyroid, until a relative mentioned they had the same problem. We both stopped the CBD (vastly different brands), and the temperature problem went away in a few days. She has since resumed taking a different brand, with success. But I have not. Experimenting with remedies wears me out.
I would recommend trying it. I’ve heard that CBD without THC can be just as helpful as CBD with THC. It just depends on how your body reacts. It doesn’t hurt to try.
Hey Struggling,
“It’s the THC compound that makes it work isn’t it?” That really depends, some symptoms can be managed with CBD, some symptoms can be managed with THC. Some may need a combination of both. It’s the THC which gives the intoxicating effects or ‘stoned’ feeling. I have been participating in a trial here in Australia and the concoctions being dispensed here only have the two cannabinoids CBD and THC or the single CBD cannabinoid.
Has it been worth the hassle obtaining the approval? IMHO… Yes.
But it has been VERY costly, around A$800 + A$300 for the medication itself.
Has there been a benefit? Yes. I’ve been able to cut my pains meds WAY down.
Even if it’s only to give it a trial, it’s worth it. Anything to cutback on the pharma medications has got to be a plus as far as I’m concerned.
