Medical MJ

Hi Everybody,

I have not been on for a while. About two months ago I went back to my Fibro specialist and he registered me for a MMJ card. I went down to the center and bought 2 strains. (they had 5 to pick from on that day). I also bought a vaporizer. I tried the first one and the smell was so horrible that I was gagging. I baked it into brownies. It helps me sleep but does nothing for the pain.

The second strain still smelled bad but not as bad as the first one. I use this one a couple times a week with the same results. Both are higher THC than CBD.

Next week I am going back to try a strain with a higher CBD to see if this is better for pain. This entire process is not cheap either.

Anybody else have experience with MMJ?

no Linda it is still not legal in NY but it is supposed to be in 18 months. However it will be sold in foods only . you wont be able to smoke it which news is that it is more effective that way. Yeah i hear it wont be cheap either. Well the government will sure be making more money.

Hi Linda. I got my card this winter. I have not invested in a vaporizer yet, so have been smoking and have an edible now and then. I don't like buying the "medibles" because there is not a determined amount of any particular strain in them. So you can't tell what medical result you get from any of them. I don't want to get into making my own. So that is why I mainly smoke. The higher THC works best for me, Linda. I think it's different for everyone.

I am not a cigarette smoker. I did do some of both when I was young. Smoking does not bother me as far as gagging...that sort of feeling that you get. I know it's not good for my lungs. Everything I take is not good for some part of me.

I have found the mmj to be one of the most beneficial medications I've used for fm. I have less anxiety, I am not as irritable, I find it much easier to relax and not over do it - if I want to. I am not under-active, since summer began (yes! summer!) I have been very active. It hurts, I take my time and get little things done. The mmj helps the creative thoughts that are blocked when dealing with fm pain and cf. Therefore I feel more motivated and not so stuck. That is what I've found.

Take care.

Hi. There are definitely certain strains that are more effective for pain management, anxiety, etc. I’ll do some research and get back to you on that one. I think that taking cannabis oil (aka: Rick Simpson’s oil–check it out on YouTube) may be a breakthrough for those of us w/ fibro. Cannabis has not only been found to possess specific anti-cancer properties, it has been documented to have helped those w/ Crohn’s disease, diabetes, and fibro as well! A small amount of the concentrated oil is ingested daily(about the size of 1/3 of a grain of rice) and the build-up of it in the human body helps to get the body back to a state in which it can heal itself (like it is supposed to.) I’m about to embark on the journey w/ it myself, and will post my experiences. Anyway, I suggest some research on Rick Simpson’s oil to get a good idea of what to expect, and then see if they’re offering it at your local dispensary.
Personally, I have been “sick” for as long as I can remember. I’m 35, and ready to be well!
Best wishes, hugs, love, and all that good stuff!!
To be cont…

I wish more would have responded, Linda. I wonder if people are using and aren't comfortable with making it public. I don't blame them. It's hard to talk about. Makes one feel a little strange. Especially after teaching our children "no, no" for ever. It will be interesting to watch over the next decade or so and see how much the conversation changes.

Good Luck with your venture Linda.

I believe what you are saying goodstuff. My son has crohn's disease and at about 22 he started using mj for it. He is doing remarkably well. Although I am using it now, I was very against him getting a mmj card. I didn't want him using pot. Now, ha ha. Here I am.

I have access to oils as well. I will make it a point to look into them.

Thank you for posting. While it is still illegal here in Texas. I have been very curious is MMJ would be of benefit to me. I need help sleeping. I have been unable to find anything that will allow me to sleep and not make me hyper, even my pain medication makes me hyper. I wake so often at night because of the pain and of course, as we all know the lack of sleep only makes the pain worse. I am going to follow this thread to learn more, because I have no idea where to even start. I don't think bringing it up to my doctor will be ok because as I said it is still illegal here. But, I have a friend who is willing to assist me in getting some when I have the vaporizer. Because it is legal to sell the vaporizer just not the MMJ... that's Texas for ya. I also appreciate that you are talking about it, because it is hard to find a place where you feel safe discussing this topic.
