I have been dealing with Fibro and RA for 6 years now, I have tried a lot of pain medications, ie. Hydrocodone, Zanaflex, Flexril, Gabbapention, Lyrica, Cymbalta, Amitryptline (msp), Hydromorophone, and I am sure there are some I can't remember. All of these have failed to control the pain, I am not looking for something to get rid of the pain, because reality dictates this is no longer possible. I have tried elimination diets, not eat this, not eating that, adding in vitamins and have no relief. Due to a over production of stomach acid ( a hereditary thing), I have to severely limit my NSAIDS as well.
My current pain management cocktail is Hydrocodone and Zanaflex, the Zanaflex does help some with the muscle spams. The Hydrocodone, I believe, is starting to now work at all, it only ever took the edge off and not for very long. So I am considering trying medical marijuana and see if it would be at all helpful.
Has anyone tried this? What was you experience using MMJ? How do you handle it with the medical community? ( I live in Texas, so it is still illegal here.)
I realize this is a very volatile topic and am not looking for arguments only information. I have literally tried everything and have been told my only option at this point is Oxycotion. I don't want to take Oxy, it makes me to foggy headed to actually be productive and useful. I have seen 4 doctors and have been told the same thing by all of them. I really feel at my wits end. So please no preaching or arguing just information.
hi ldyhawk. i have tried all the drugs you mentioned and them some. i was on narcotics( legal) for over 20 years and went off over a year ago as the edge they helped me with stopped working and i developed re- bound pain plus i became allergic to those family of drugs and would break out in hives and welts.. it was awful . Now i only take celebrex when needed.I go for massage therapy and tens unit. i have to rest a lot in between any activities and pace carefully etc. As far as the MJ, it is not yet legal here in NY but is supposed to be in 18 months. I am sure i will be trying it as well. As far as any judgement, lectures or preaching from anyone i feel that would not be right at all. Narcotics and alcohol have been legal forever so why should anyone judge weed especially when it is far less dangerous if at all. please dont worry about this. let me know how your experience goes. thanks. HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGS
I believe that if it is legal it is your choice. Keep in mind that it is now prescribed as a medicine and if it helps you that is all that matters. Let us know how it works for you.
There is a legal drug called marinol. It is an appetite inhancer, but also helps pain. It too is a controlled drug. Marinol is manufactured as a capsule containing THC in sesame oil. As a nurse I have given this medication for both reasons. You can google search it or ask your MD
