...But I am curious if any patients here have explored the option of medicinal marijuana as an option for pain management, and if you have, have you found it to be beneficial at all. I realize that this is still a touchy subject, but I'm sure most of you can agree that if theres something out there that can help with pain, you'd be pretty much willing to try anything, right?
its natural and legal in your state so give it a shot. xoxixixioxoxoxoxoxoxo
Like any other medication, it reacts differently on everyone. I know people who swear it's helped and others that says it doesn't. There are lots of variables also. What other medications are you taking? Marijuana never did anything for me in relationship to pain relief,.I often wished it did. The last time I tried it was when it became legalized in Calif for medicinal use, 1997 or so, no luck! Has anyone else tried it and had success or failure?
It really helped me but is not legal in my state. I used a little while visiting my sister and felt sooooooo much better. Then got home and found out if I tested positive, my doc would be banned from giving me any pain meds forever. Whoopsie. Thank God I didn’t get popped for a random drug test until it was out of my system.
Hi alipants.
Since medical marijuana is now legal in my state, I am not worried about discussing it. My doctor refuses to give me any for pain. She says she's seen too many people addicted to it, which stunned me. I can't get it fro any other doctors in this practice. She said it doesn't help for pain. But I say if you know it's from a reliable source (your doctor's prescription filler) then try it if it's legal if you want to see how it works. Truthfully, with fibro, everybody's body reacts differently to the meds we are given. The meds work on some and not on others. So we can't say that something will definitely work for you or not.
Hugs,
Petunia
Actually i am a cert patient and i will say thks...there are alot of strain out there and they all do something diferent. There is sativa which is an upper..so during day i use sativa strains they stop alot lf my nerve pain and i still function it gives me energy and doesnt make me crave food. Then at night i use an indica strain this makes me sleepy and lazy and i sleep alot better at night and it hells to control the RLS. Kt also helps alot w my nausea. So i am under the care of my fibro doctor and he is the one who recommeded kt to me becuz im alergic to almost all fibro meds, migraine meds..and sensitive to what im not allergic to. So i believe marijuana works well but maybe not for some...but research strains online and se what they do.
P.s. marijuana is nlt addicting and u can never overdose on it...u can surely get ripped if overuse but never overdose and die...if u eat something if u get to much the sugars in the food wil lower the thc levels. Or find a light weight strajn. They have charlotts web in colorado and that strain has no thc only cbd, cbn, cbc which is the medicine in the plant
Hae alipants. I recently posted a similar discussion. I'll try to find the link and post it.
Meanwhile, yes, I have started using medical marijuana. It's like someone turned on the light switch. The sativa that Robyn mentioned is so good in the day time. Believe it or not it clears my thoughts. I can actually work on things around my house and complete them...fog doesn't get in the way. It does help with pain. I use another strain in the evening to relax and sleep better. My MD recommends marijuana for her fibro patients.
I'm still learning the many different ways to use it. Edibles, vaporizers, whole form. I've only been to a dispensary twice. I'm still nervous about it. I am still concerned about what people think of me for using it. It's kind of a hush hush, family secret right now. I'll probably keep it that way.
I believe the mmj is the reason I am having a better winter than last. Yes, I really do.
Try it girlfriend !

Hi my friend Petunia. Try it. I know you struggle so terribly with pain.
You may like it a lot, but it's not chemically addictive. There are other benefits to using it besides pain and sleep.
Just sayin', cuz i love ya.

Hi Ali! Don't be afraid to try MMJ ;)
I have been a legal medical marijuana patient since 2010. I have to admit to smoking pot most of my adult life so I already knew it helped.
It takes your mind off of pain temporarily. Settles the gut when nauseated. Helps with rest, irritability, migraines, cramping/RLS, appetite, nervousness, nerve pain, etc.
I use medibles as well and use mj by smoking or vaporizing.
If you live in a legal state then I would suggest first trying mj the traditional way to see if it gives you any benefits. If you have never used mj before then start off slow with smoking it to see how it makes you feel. If your state is legal then you should be able to find different strains for different medical help. A dispensary should be able to help you with your choices once you give them details about your pain and let them know whether you've used marijuana before.
Now, I don't discuss my mmj use with my doctors even though I am legal. I'm sure it shows up in my blood work but I've not had a physician bring the subject up save my chiropractor who feels that when I smoke before an adjustment my body takes the adjustment easier and I'm not tensed up during my appointment.
I use my candy when I have to take long trips like to my neurosurgeon. Car trips are the devil for me with pain, restlessness and my RLS goes into overdrive when traveling. It's illegal to drive n smoke mj in your car here so that's why I make/have candy with me. The "medibles" work only on the body, mostly for pain and sleep help. You get no cerebral high from medibles...it works only on your body, relaxing every fiber and making you feel floaty. I used to make pot butter and oil but now, under the advice of my chiro I make canna 'coconut oil' which can be used either like a butter or an oil. You can use it in any recipe that calls for butter or oil. Coconut oil is the best for you.
I have a very difficult time getting to sleep as most fibro patients do. A piece of candy or a small bowl of "chronic chex mix" will have me yawning and heading to la la land in 15 to 20 minutes.
Some of my friends really like the pot-liquor I conjure up. I use it for extreme (9/10 pain range)pain and the effect is real close to a narcotic effect.
In a nut shell...I and many others have found it to be very beneficial for treating pain and other symptoms when traditional medications don't seem to be working. If you have any other questions I would be happy to chat with you some more on this subject.

If it helps use it!!!
I don’t know if the medical stuff is different the. The street stuff. I tried it before and I felt so weird and out of control, like I sat there stuck for hours. If that is how it reacts with me, I won’t be using it. I need energy and need to be able to be alert with my 4 year old. I wish it was something that worked for me though. It sure would be nice to find something.
