Facial pain and TMJ

I’ve been in a flare for 12 days now (my own fault I did to much on holiday!) really struggling with facial pain, I think it’s TMJ, anybody have any advice about getting this diagnosed? I have had issues with doctors in the past when it comes to diagnosing and this makes me weary. But the facial pain is too bad to ignore now.

Hi Emily,
I get severe pain in my upper and lower teeth, on the sides, not in the front. It’s pretty severe, but doesn’t last more than about a day. Once it was so severe I called the dentist’s service on a weekend, we agreed to meet Monday, but about 6 hours later it was completely gone. It just comes and goes without warning.

Hi lynne thanks for replying, can I ask how you manage the pain? I use ibruprofen gel, heat and cold packs, and zapain my pain relief, but in a flare, non of this works! Do you have any tips?
