Fatigue is really awful. Any ideas on what to help?

thank you for sharing :)

Dee your information was also good for me to know about. I also have a c-pap. My dr. told me and my husband that I need a lot of sleep. I realy don't know anything else that will help, wish I did. Thanks again Dee for the information. Sue

hi firestar ~ I am exactly the same way! I would like to show up at church at 10 on sundays, but if I go, I am a zombie there and feel almost sick the rest of the day. I am a night person and often do not go to sleep until sometime between midnight and two...I have tried to change this but cannot. if I don't sleep until noon or even one I am so tired. sometimes I stay in bed to watch tv until four...I am up and about getting things done during commercials or boring topics, but I love dr. oz.

anyway this fatigue thing is a real problem. now I have spinal stenosis with extreme pain in my back...I think that is what is causing some new neuropathy in my lower legs and feet. I have struggled with this illness for so many years...am now 71 but look very youthful. I do have a strong spiritual life that gets me through and friends to talk with on the phone.

hi dear friend in Australia. I email every day with a man in Melbourne. you did not send enough information. vitamin b's help with fatigue and do protein drinks...not those energy drinks...a good protein drink. I have to have two to three cups of caffeinated tea when I wake up but I don't think that is recommended...it just works for me. I take ten capsules of Neurontin for pain....it takes that much as my illness has progressed.

I hope you find help on this website...chat. you are not alone in the battle. ( : hugs, annie

That is all that helps me.

So I go to bed about 11 at night sleep til I am. read til 3:30 go back to bed up at 7 am. . Drs tried meds to help me but I have a reaction from everything but welbutrin and arthrotec.

Family just don't understand. my friends have left me, they don't understand why I cant go all the time.. Sorry about grumbling so much.. have a good

day.

thank you so much for sharing

i do get b12 shots and find more protein helpful but it is only a minor short lift overall

same on the friends and family too... it's not grumbling here, it's sharing the load of what we experience and tolerate from those who don't know how to inderstand

Hi Firestar!

A sleep test can be very helpful. I had one and they did not use a cpap on me because it concentrates the air around me in order to work. Since I live in a smoggy area, that's bad for me - I'm chemically sensitive. They did find that I had obstructive sleep apnea and also that muscle jerks along my spine woke me up in the middle of the night. I can go to sleep, but can't stay asleep through the night. I had surgery to correct breathing through my nose (could not use nose for any breathing due to structure). That has helped a lot.

Baclofen, gabapentin, cymbalta, diclofenac, tramadol, and clonazepam are all needed for me to sleep, since I also have spinal injuries as well as fibro. It is a challenge to find medications that can work with chemical sensitivities. Could you be dealing with chemical sensitivities, or are you allergic?

Until then, I wonder if a series of relaxation music would help. When I am desperate for sleep but can't calm my body down, the music seems to help - I fall asleep every time.

Scribelle

I do sleep all day most days.

Hi Scribelle

I was unable to breathe through my nose until I had an operation at the age of 10.

I have always had allergies that got worse in my early 20's when i was diagnosed with acute utacaria. In the last few years I have rapidly had trouble with far more food, contact items and smells. Medications have been trial and error also. Unable to take cymbalta, endep and some others. Tramadol no good to take with lexapro and lyrica makes me useless.

I have settled on lexapro and circadin. I started taking dex today and have my fingers crossed there are no problems with it because the last two hours have been the most amazing i have had in longer than i can remember. I finally feel alive for the first time in years and have been close to tears of happiness as i have not been able to make myself sit down until now.

be good to yourself and thank you again for sharing.

hello so i just started this "medication" called deplin which is technically a medical food in a pill, its only been three days and I already notice a difference in my alertness, energy, motivation, and happiness. It is L-methylfolate and it is AMAZING. I hope they make it in Australia because I would really recommend it. My pain specialist recommended it to me because she said her fibromyalgia patients love it. So i hope you can get your hands on it and try it out because it was definitely worth my while, best of luck.

Hi Mel!

I love how you say it: FMS is not going to win I am! That is a great way to approach managing ac chronic condition. We are affected, but we are also the ones in charge. You are a true fibro warrior!

Hi Firestar!

It sounds like we have a lot in common - nasal, allergies, chemical sensitivities, etc. Not that I would wish any of this on you, but I am also reassured that I am not the only one with this combination.

I am so pleased that you have found a combination of meds that is working for you. It is such a relief when we finally find that!

I am doing a happy dance for you! Enjoy the moment!

Hi SK!

I totally agree with your recommendations. Because I live in a high smog area, I take sublingual B12 daily and it really helps. Also the sublingual B12 is absorbed more readily than the type you swallow. My endocrinologist confirmed that. I also take B6, which helps with inflammation. With B6, though, you have to be careful not to go over about 100 mg. It's the only B vitamin that can be toxic at higher levels. However, the B6, within the 100 mg limit is very effective.

Calcium is essential for bone health. It's helpful to know that calcium carbonate can constipate and calcium citrate can cause diarhea. If digestion is affected, we can go to the other form and still get the bone health. Keeping the vitamin D and magnesium in our regimen also helps us absorb the calciium.

I take high doses plus prolia for osteopenia (mild form of osteoporosis). I used to have osteoporosis due to my cancer treatment. With this combo, I have improved considerably. Because fibro tends make us avoid a lot of activity, bone health is a consideration we all need to take into account.

Great advice, SK!
