Fatigue is really awful. Any ideas on what to help?

Did you have turbinate surgery?

Firestar, I forgot to add that you should have blood tests taken to check your thyroid, your iron level, vitamin levels, etc. Deficiencies on any of these fronts can certainly add to your fatigue! And usually we have thyroid issues, plus Vitamin D3 deficiencies.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to add that I'm on Nortriptyline, which helps me to fall asleep. It's related to Amiltriptyline, which many others take for sleep assistance.

yeah I am on thyroxine and D powder from the pharmacy by script also :)

Hi Firestar:

Have you had your Vitamin B-12 level checked? I have had such horrible fatigue for years and my arms/legs feel like wet noodles. I had my level checked and I was critically low at 112. The US normal level is 200-800. I just found this out this week and have started Vitamin B12 injections to see if it improves this, it should. Also I had my blood drawn for a Vitamin D level as if this is low it can cause tremendous pain.. I do not have this level back yet so we will see.

Hope this helps!

yes i do the shots and the D powder

Hi Firestar,

I just wanted to encourage you to get the sleep study. I thought it was silly too when my Dr. suggested it. I thought, how could anyone sleep hooked up to wires like Frankenstein, but afterwards they showed me my brain scan and I was not staying in REM sleep. No wonder I would sleep 8-10 hours and feel like I hadn't slept at all. Now I take two 10mg tabs of Amitriptyline before bed. I still have trouble with exhaustion, but it's not as severe as it was. I also sleep with a box fan for the air circulation and it's droning noise. Good shades on the windows help too.

Wishing you much rest and peace : )

Hi Dee,

Is the drug called "Provigil" or something like that. Darn that fibro fog!! And for us lucky ones, there is the double wammy fog of menopause/fibro. Here's my oxymoron for today......Good Grief!! I enjoy your posts : )

hi Firestar. my mom has fibro and a serious sleep disorder besides. She drastically improved with a CPAP machine. I know that with fibro deep sleep is a major problem. Fatigue is my worst symptom. One day i hope to afford a sleep study.

I use green tea, focusing on a task, and the right amount of exercise to help me

the green tea is a pill but it doesn't last all day

IF I can I try to do a task to keep myself going -but not anything in front of the computer- sitting makes me want to go

right back to bed.

lastly exercise - it really does change my mood and fatigue level -If I overdo it I am screwed. I used to bodybuild and be in the gym 6 hours a day . I cant not do that much any more - but I would imagine a quick walk around the block or on a treadmill or a ride on a bike would get your brain chemicals going-

good luck feel better

I am in Aus . also & on Lyrica , Endep, Panadol -Osteo, Naproxyn & now on Oxycontin also , sounds like a lot , but it keeps me going, even though I have to force myself to get up in ams.I also attend hydrotherapy 1/52 with a physio & this helps a lot too. Even though most of time don't feel I have any energy I push myself as much as possible. I am nearly 60 yrs .old & have struggled for yrs but still manage to keep going. Good Luck. Also previously managed by pain specialist here in Tas. who said Lyrica is best choice, although a lot of people I know haven't persevered with it long enough to get the benefit.

I had a triple procedure. My septum was deviated in the shape of an "S", which meant that no air could get through either side. The doctor was able to correct 90% of the shape - beyond that he would have had to break bone. I also had a right lower sinus opened, as it was way too small. I also had cartilage inserted in the sides of my nose, since the sticky sleep aids were ripping my skin. Before, when I inhaled, my nose would close shut. The cartilage keeps it open.

I am 58 years old and this is the first time I have ever breathed through my nose! Whoo hoooo!

I still get sinus headaches when the weather changes, but nothing like before.

Hi, I often use Vit b complex. Its seems to give me a few hours of energy. That and eating 4 to 5 small meals a day.

I hope this helps!

I have to say i agree with exercise eben though its extremely hard to do is the best thing out there.Range of motion exercise ,sttetching being most helpful.good day, wayne
