Hi everyone..I was just wondering what other health conditions everyone else has. It seems to me like Fibro goes hand-in-hand with a ton of other conditions. Since my late 20's I have been living with...
IBS, EBV, chronic cystitis, asthmatic allergies, migraines, sinus and tension headaches, mild hypoglycemia and within the last 3 years ...hypothyroidism, degenerative disc disease and Fibromyalgia.
Due to all these conditions and chronic pain every day..I also lost my job this past July. I tried filing for SSD and was denied twice. I am in the process of looking for an excellent attorney but this is also stressing me out because I am afraid of picking the wrong one.
My pain management doctor is only concerned about making $$ and does not care if I'm in pain, my orthopedic is a little better but not much. I have seen 3 rheumatologists so far and they were not very educated in Fibro. My primary validates that I have health issues and pain but still in the back of his mind he thinks that I should take meds, work thru it and go look for another job.
Sometimes I just feel like giving up. Thanks for reading this.
Oh Linda, don't give up...I don't know how old you are but unfortunately life will not be easy. From what I've read here we all have the same symptoms and life's problems...Even though I'm soon to be 67 yrs. old in my mind I feel 30. I have many of the same problem's that you have, for me I was able to deal with the asthma, sinus problems ( I had surgery to clear them out ) no problems after that. I recently had thyroid issues, biopsies a couple of times but thankfully the last one ( 3 weeks ). was ok. Severe depression and a few hosp. admissions, but I'm still here.
I've been going thru a divorce for 4 yrs. soon to be resolved. Hopefully after I move into my own place I will feel better, and maybe some of my pain will diminish.
Linda stay strong and fight, think about the good things in your life.
I agree with Cat, don't give up. Just keep on trying. And hopefuLlly a good SSDI attorney will win you your disability case. I think the odds go up to 80 percent (winning it) on your 3rd appeal if you use a disability lawyer. That's what's mine told me, and those are good odds!
Life will not be easy...but it's easier when you have a source of income coming in. So hang in there! You'll get your case approved.
I know how you feel. Since I turned 18 my health has gone down hill drastically. I have fibromyalgia, endometriosis, Addison's disease, hypothyroidsm, raynauds, hypoglycemia, low blood pressure, celiac disease, and acid reflux. This past summer I also had to have my colon removed because I suffered from colonic inertia. Now since the surgery I have been to the ER about 15 times for nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. My GI doctor has ordered for me to get an endoscopy to make sure they are not missing anything. There could be a chance I could also have intestinal ischemia which would mean another surgery. I have already had 7 surgeries and I am only 24.
It is frustrating being in constant pain and I understand what your going through. I have seen 4 different rehumatologists, a a few different pain management doctors, 2 neurologists, 2 cardiologists, and some other doctors yet still cannot seem to get my pain under control. I've tried physical therapy where I've done water therapy which hasn't been much help either. I know what you mean when you say you feel like giving up, I feel like that way too often.
I sometimes wonder why some people are so lucky and have perfect health, while others like ourselves are cursed and have to go through so much suffering. I am here if you ever need to talk!
HI Linda, I'm also a new member. I'm 47 but feel 77 some days. I have been battling depression lately which has actually gotten worse recently. Especially since my disability claim was denied. I'm in the process of appealing. I'm in Canada, so our process is a bit different. We also have provincial and federal disability programs.
I have degenerative disc disease, bone spurs, tendonitis in my shoulders and elbows, carpal tunnel syndrome, Chondromalacia Patella in both knees, hiatal hernia and GERD, Myofacial Pain Syndrome,Costochondritis, allergies (which have increased in intensity since my diagnosis), dry itchy skin and migraines.
I know how you feel about giving up, I feel the same way lately. I've thought about leaving my family because I'm just making them miserable too. BUT.....we can make it. YOU can do it. Don't feel like you are superwoman and have to do everything. Do what you can when you can.
My doctor is supportive but I think he's tired of seeing me as often as he does. I'm going to need a wheelbarrow to carry my file pretty soon.
Please know that you are not alone. There are alot of us out there and we can support each other even if no one else will.
