Fibromyalgia and surgery

I recently had surgery at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, FL to remove a cyst from my left vocal fold. My ENT and surgeon was Dr. Gnady from the Silverstein Institute. I told him, my nurses, and the anesthesiologist about having Fibromyalgia and how much more pain most things would cause. They were amazing. My doctor used a pediatric sized jaw opener. The anesthesiologist set the blood pressure machine to the lowest frequency possible, and the nurses took my blood pressure manually. Even so, I was not prepared for the pain I was in after surgery. My doctor had ordered strong pain meds during my time in the recovery room and a prescription to take home. His team contacted my pain specialist about other meds showing up in my system and why. My jaw felt as though it had been disjointed and I could barely open it for a week. My recovery took 3 weeks which is longer than average. I cannot imagine what it would have been like if I hadn’t had such knowledgeable professionals willing to accommodate my needs.
