Shesh!! Now I remember why I took time off! My schedule is changing again, for the 4th time in 6 months! I told myself I was going to leave on time. I’m salaried, so staying late is on my dime… But nope! I work an extra hour and a half, then another hour from home. My right leg is SCREAMING at me. Feels like it’s on fire!! I’m not on any pain management because I haven’t needed it at this point.
I applied for a promotion at my job that would allow me to work from home! It would be a complete shift from what I’m doing now. And while it’s still full time and salary, I think the job would be less stressful than mine currently. I have between 15 to 30 direct reports now, and would have none with the promotion. I really hate that I pushed myself into pain today. Lesson learned, I hope.
Oh Leslie, So sorry that your going through this. I really hope your leg starts to feel better fast and you get that promotion quickly as well. Does your pain start at your hip and flare down, this is what mine does and also feels as if my blood is boiling. This has gotten alot worse for me over the past two years. I hope you have a better day. Sending gentle hugs your way, Robin
Thanks, Robin. My legs have always been sensitive to long days. I have had pain in them even before the diagnosis. I just assumed it was normal. If I can get to sleep it feels better in the morning. But yes, started at my hip and went down to my foot. Luckily I got sleep, so it’s better!
Thank you, avenk! I’ve been careful who I share it with. I don’t want people assuming I’ll be a problem. It seems like in my company taking any leave of absence, even if it’s intermittent, is like sticking a target on your back. As a matter of fact, I haven’t shared my diagnosis on Facebook at all, because I know I’m friends with colleagues. I’ve been fortunate so far that I haven’t had too many bad days since my diagnosis. Last year was rough, but I didn’t know what it was then. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed. I likely will have another 1-2 interviews and a month to go before I will know. I’m really hoping it works out so I can regulate my schedule and take it easy on days I need to.
I sure hope you feel better. I know some of your pain is due to your first day back. anytime I take time off work it's painful the first day back. I also, tell very few people at work that I have fibro. and it seems like when you do tell people they look at you funny. and one of the main reasons I joined this group was to talk to other people that know what its like to be sick and look healthy. we all have to learn to take it easy and not to push our selves but, easier said then done. good luck and hope you get the job.
I hope that you get this promotion! Working from home would be great I would think. You could take a mid day break for a hot bath to ease those aching muscles! :)
Leslie,
I hope for you this promotion works out, what a blessing to be able to work from home, you sound like a huge asset to the company.
Have you tried a heating pad on that leg ?
Hugs & blessings
