Flabbergasted

I ended up going to the emergency clinic today and wanted to get muscle relaxers. The dr.said " I never missed my fibro classes and fibro is just inflammation, so I am going to give you s steroid shot." I told him that it doesn’t work for me, could I just get muscle relaxer. He shrugged his shoulders and sarcastically told me whatever you want. I can’t believe his cocky, arrogant attitude. Will call my dr tomorrow.

It's amazing the amount of doctors that don't take Fibromyalgia seriously, even rheumatologists. What's even worse is the many doctors without any professionalism or bedside manners.

I hope you're regular doctor will be able to help tomorrow!

My regular dr is the greatest but hard to get quick appt

I would call the clinic and voice a complaint no matter his what he thinks he is suppose to treat everyone with respect.

I feel your dissatisfaction in doctors right now too. At least you let him know what doesn’t work for you and he gave you something that you know works. I just got off the phone with a large hospital/medical college who my PCP told me to call and see if they can help me, as my pain management doctor isn’t helping any. I was told that they don’t take just anymore and their director decides if you can be a part of their clinic! And since I have already tried the 4 fibro drugs commonly prescribed with paradoxical effects, they probably couldn’t help me. At that point I was crying and told her well that’s great - usually I have to pay close to $300 first! Just so frustrated that clinics are now screening on the phone and she couldn’t even recommend a doctor in this huge hospital that treat people with fibro! I’m ready to write letters or take out a huge billboard or ad in the paper asking for a doctor who treats us!!! Might as well throw my money that way instead if directly into those who do nothing. Yep, I can honestly see how this frustration can turn to depression.
Hope you can get an appt. real soon with your doctor who understands you. Wishing you less pain ~hugs~ Sandi

Hi Dena. I'm sorry you had such a disappointing appointment with the emergency clinic doctor. I have found that these types of clinics or hospital er's are the worst in dealing with our problems. It's so disappointing when you need someone right away and get a bomb of a doctor.

When you get in to see your regular doc talk to them honestly about what you want and why you think it will help you. I have been through several years in a row of loss and grief. Last summer was especially difficult. I went to my doctors office nurse practitioner (because I couldn't get in to my regular MD). I explained my situation to her, my panic, grief, pain from anxiety, etc. She agreed with my research and thought I needed some clonazepam (muscle relaxer) to get me through it. It has helped me through the difficulty and now I have weaned off of it and only use a tiny bit once in awhile.

I wish you the best, Dena. Hang in there!

Thank you all for being here, it helps so much just to talk to others who fully understand.
