Follow up with the Rheumatologist

I had my follow up with the rheumatologist today and he said I have rheumatoid arthritis along with the fibro. He said I tested negative for the actual antibody but all other markers and indicators were present even on the xrays of my joints. I also did my first round of allergy shots and I feel like crap from those. I know everything takes time. He assured me if I was going to continue to take 10 prescriptions, he would at least make sure I felt great. Lol. I would be ok with that. He said since it is auto immune it can take 6 months to a year for everything to get under control. That was the first time I had heard something like that. I guess its kind of a relief to finally have an answer and treatment plan instead of just treating symptoms.

Hi MrsK,

Well, yes. I imagine it must be a relief to know why you're having symptoms that aren't from fibro. I'm very glad you found out the answer and can now start treatment for the RA. And I loved your rheumy's comment and attitude! So nice to hear someone who acknowledges what's going on and is willing to do his best to treat it. Yes!

And you're also getting allergy shots? More power to you; I hope they help to reduce or eliminate your allergies.

Thanks for sharing the news, MrsK. It really sounds like you're at the start of some meaningful treatment to help you feel somewhat better. And to also maintain your joints. So good for you!

Hugs,

Petunia

So glad for you. Sounds like your rheumatologist is really concerned and helpful. That is so very important.

I feel so lucky to have found my rheumatologist. He is an hour away from me and so worth the trip. Even the allergist was great today and so concerned with making sure I was ok to drive after my shots. So many doctors have just frustrated me and I would stop going and just deal with the aches and pains but this is such a relief. Now that I have some answers I have so many new questions for my next visit!

Sounds like your doctor is on the ball, and willing to take good care of you.

Congrats on finding a good one! It does take time for an autoimmune disorder to get under control, but once it's managed, you'll feel so much better. I'm glad you finally have some answers!
