Had Dr.'s appt. today, more meds added

I had my appt. with the Rheumy who also specializes in Fibro and she did confirm the dx. She also, gag me now, added two more meds. 200mg Celebrex and Prozac. Though thankfully she is ok with me reducing the Gabapentin until I find that my muscle pain and twitches are coming back. She also likes that I am educating myself and that I use the TENS unit, since it somehow, at least, helps my shoulders but not at all my hips. Heat/Ice, topicals, pt. I already use heat, tried ice w/o much success. Topicals??? pt, no money right now.

One thing she told me and I thankfully had already resigned myself to it is that with the severity of my Fibro that I will never be pain free, though she said that we should be able to improve it to some degree. I like docs who are honest and appreciated her comment. I'm a no nonsense person and don't want things sugarcoated.

I've taken Celebrex before but not Prozac, not sure about the dosage since she electronically transmitted the script.

I guess I am off to a new adventure and will report how it goes. We are all members of the "Neverending Story" book or movie doesn't matter.

Farida

Hi Farida, I am very happy you had a good appointment. I took Celebrex years ago for some arthritis pain I have and I recall that it helped me so I hope it helps you. It is so important to have a good relationship and mutual respect with your doctors so that is wonderful the appointment went well. I hope you are feeling better soon. Hugs!

When I took the Celebrex for my Arthritis many years ago, after trying a ton of other NSAIDs without success, I was ecstatic about who well it worked. Last year I took it again and couldn't feel any reduction in pain, which I told the doc and she said that sometimes with a combo of other meds it's possible that it will help.

I'll go for just about anything right now to reduce the pain and make my life a little livable. My hopes are there, though small, and my expectations are highly reduced. I know pain free would be a pipe dream but less pain would be a dream.

This morning I took my 1st Celebrex and this evening I'll take my 1st Prozac. I read that Prozac can make you tired, so I'll take it in the evening.

I'll keep you all posted. Thank you for your concern and understanding, the members of this site have been so amazing and understanding. Hugs to you all! Farida
