Hello all, I'm new to fibro

Hi all! I'm female, 37 years old and new to fibro (diagnosed last year).I also suffer from anxiety, on and off, for 17 years now. I can manage my pains for the moment, with aqua gym, swimming, streching, heat and ibuprofene/ketonal on occasion.

But I noticed the most effective way to reduce pain is good night sleep, wich is not easy to get because of anxiety (especially health anxiety). Fortunately, I don't suffer with chronic fatigue symptom, in fact I have enough energy, I'm active, I work full time and I go to sleep at 11 pm or later. My problem with sleep is that it is interrupted and I get up multiple times during night.

I don't know what happened to me but I suppose stress is the main culprit. Excuse my poor english, but I'm not a native speaker.

Hi Roxy!
I was just diagnosed last year as well. There is a lot of good advice here. I’m no expert but I would talk to your doctor about your sleep disruptions and maybe drink some chamomile tea at night.

Hi Roxy. I understand your sleep problems. I have the same thing all my life. My doctor seems to think this mite be the cause of my FM in the first place. The lack of sleep is so annoying and really affects your work, love and social life. Mom52 makes a good point with chamomile tea. It does help. I use this myself. Good luck here. I he you get a positive result.

You're, blessed. I don't sleep at night because of the pain, and nothing seems to work, they keep trying all kinds of meds for me, nothing is working. Just don't know what to do

Georgia,

Please feel free to introduce yourself. There are ways of coping with the pain and others here are sure to share experiences.

Also if you haven’t yet check out the Fibro 101 guide on the top nav bar.

Hugs,

Laurie

yes, I went to a psichiatrist, who prescribed benzodiasepine(Rivotril) for my sleeping issues. And an antidepressant, Zoloft.

Meds had effect only in the short run (1-2 weeks) and after that, they stopped working. Zoloft helped me a lot with anxiety, but not with sleep or pain. I noticed that the only way to improve sleep is to reduce stress and worries. On good nights, I sleep 6 hours uninterrupted. I developed a strong health anxiety because of new and new symptoms appearing. I entered a vicious cycle> more symptoms, more anxiety, less sleep, more pain and symptoms.
