so tonight I have been trying to get to sleep with no success. So I figured I would log on and ask my fibro family what helps you all to get to sleep and sleep better through the evening? I have always kind of unfortunately been a night owl (not by choice), so its hard for me to know how to get myself to wind down, and some times like tonight the pain level is just too high to get comfortable.
Some things I have tried in the past that have actually worked are:
listening to white noise, like a tv, a fan, anything that has the same consistent repeating pattern. I actually have a couple of apps for this on my phone and sometimes that works for me.
Also journaling or drawing can help me get sleepier faster. I think maybe it is because its an outlet for me, I can pour my emotion into it and it brings me a little comfort. I notice with fibro sometimes my anxiety gets worse at bedtime (am I the only one?) but drawing or writing can sometimes help.
The last thing I can think of to do is what I am doing right now, be on your computer and chatting or surfing the web. After a while of staring at the screen it kind of makes me sleepy.
Any suggestions anyone? Sleeping would be lovely right now.
Blessings and prayers to my fellow fibro night owls
I take my first night meds at 6pm then the rest at 8pm by 10pm I am ready for sleep. I take a bath in lavender and read for a while. if it has been a really bad day i will take my pain med about 9pm some nights i listen to Native American chants.

The only thing that helps me to drift off is Benadryl (otc) and my fav podcast. The reason it’s my fav (other than it being about knitting and an audio book) is that the gal that speaks has the most incredibly soothing voice I have ever heard!!! I’ve been listening to her for years whenever I have a migraine. She’s part of my medication cocktail. xoxoxo
I usu take my night Drugs @ 7P, 150 mg Amitrypyline, .5 mg Clonazepam, 45 mg Mirtazapine, & I ran out of my Savela & waiting for my ins to OK it. If I haven't fallen asleep by 10P I'll read for awhile. I have to have the TV on for background noise
Amitryptiline\Elavil is the only sleep medicine that has worked. I have tried at least 5 others. Good luck hon. Hope you can find something that will work for you.
