Hello hello

Hi Everybody!

My name is Arielle and i'm 24 years old. I live in India. It has been so much of a comfort to read your stories and your sage advice and know that i'm not alone. I've been in an out of various doctors' offices since i was about 13. But it's only a coupla months ago that the current doctor treating me has diagnosed me with FM. About 3 and a half years ago i had to quite my corporate job and seek treatment because i was in so much pain and emotional turmoil and then a year later i had to quit my teaching job because i had a nervous breakdown. It's been 2 years now since i've returned to my hometown and began living with my mom again. She has been of great support and i am really grateful for all she has done for me.

Loneliness is something that i fight on a regular basis especially since i live in a small city. but moreover because people sometimes don't realize that it hurts to be stood up. Since the doc put me on Sertrallin, i've been feeling way better. the pain has decreased from about 8, on a scale of 1 to 10, to about a 2 to 4. Until the doctor mentioned it, I had never even heard of FM. With a combination of meds, diet and exercise, the fibrofog is lifting :)

What has encouraged me the most is the verse that says "Thy grace is sufficient for me" from the Bible and a book i've been reading called 29 Gifts by Cami Walker. It's taken me a while but i feel myself coming outta the 'wallowing in self-pity' phase and with the strength i do have pursue my dreams. :)

I have hope and pray that each one of you see better days in the present and in the future.

Warm Hugs to All from a lil sunny beach city in India! :)

Hi, Arielle, welcome. I've not been on this site long. But I'm learning alot of helpful info. and I hope helping in some small way. You're so lucky to be on a beach! I can't go in the sun, but I love the sun's warmth. I'm glad you seem to be doing well, so sorry about your jobs. Perhaps you'll be able to go back one day. Good luck, Charlie :)

Hi Arielle,

I'm glad your doc has put you on something that's helping your fibro. I wasn't aware that Sertrallin (aka Zoloft) was used for fibromyalgia and am very interested, considering your success with it thus far. I might have to talk to my GP about it when I next see her.

I'm just blown away when I see such young people so badly impacted by fibro. What a horrible, awful illness! But at least, finally you've found a name to your illness and a doctor to properly treat you. I'm so sorry that you've had such far-reaching consequences due to your fibro. But yay for your mom, who is a supporter of you and your illness. Thank God for such a lovely mom.

Keep going with your good results! It's nice to hear of a person who's found some success with her treatment of fibro. I hope that someday soon, everyone will be able to get good relief from fibro and maybe even a cure. Who knows?

Thanks so much for writing to us, all of the way from India!

Alavidha,

Petunia

Hi Arielle! Welcome to the forum. Yes, I agree, "Thy Grace is sufficient for me." That sunny beach sounds nice. Laying on hot sand would be soothing I imagine. Glad you found us here. It sounds like you have gotten some good advice regarding your meds, diet and exercise that has helped you.

Welcome, Arielle!

Thank you for all the kind words everybody!!! What I forgot to mention was that in October 2011, despite my physical weakness, I started up my own baking business from home. :) :) It's been a year and 3 months now since i've been operational and the response has been great. There are days when i don't even feel like getting outta bed but the smiles on people's faces as they react to the first bite is PRICELESS! :D

So if ever you're in the neighbourhood, do stop by!! :)

Hello Arielle

That is a pretty name.

I am so sorry that you have been struggling with pain and frustration for so many years. A person of your age should be just blooming in the world........and you were until the pain caused you to have to stop working. As you no doubt know chronic pain and chronic fatigue are the two toughest things that fibromyalgia sends us all. Fibrofog is the third big problem.

Depression is part of fibromyalgia, but some of us have been dealing with depression before we knew we had fibromyalgia. I have had two nervous breakdowns in my lifetime. So, I know what that is like.

I am glad that your mother is supportive of you. That is very important for you as you deal with this fibromyalgia every day. For many members family support is something they do not have. Some people have been without any support til they joined this online support community. I'm very glad that you joined us. This is a very supportive and active community as you can see by all the responses to your posting.

Love and gentle hugs

Rachel

Hi Arielle, I am a bit late in responding to your post, but I do want to say welcome aboard to this board. I am fairly new here myself. You are a little young for the fibro (though I do know that young kids do get it), and me I am a little older than the norm. I am 61. The only good thing for me is that I do not have young kids. I value greatly those who have young kids and have to deal with their life with school and homework and all things that young children need. I absolutely do not see myself attending to children as I can barely attend to myself because of the fatigue and the pain. And memory, I would not know what or how to instruct my kids.LOL. I am on Tramadol, gabapentin, and cyclobenzeprin (Flexeril) occasionally, and also have been on Venlafaxine (Effexor) for many years. I just found out last June that my pain and fatigue were fibro and more recently was told that I indeed do have CFS (I was wondering if I did or not) as my fatigue does not last for over 24 hours and it gets better if I nap even for 1/2 hour.

I would so love to come to India and try your delicious chocolate cupcake. I am a chocolaholic. Can you mail that to me? LOL. So wish.

Love to you and to your mom,

Karen
