I'm really trying to remain positive

Hi all
I’m trying so hard to remain positive, but need someone to hear how it really is for me in this moment.
I have now been off work for two weeks, a job I love where I can make a difference to the lives of a very disadvantaged group of people. I’m missing being at work but simply couldn’t be there right now.
I have pain all the time, fortunately this is only the second flare I have suffered, the first one put me off. My feet and into a wheelchair. I worked hard to get back out of the wheelchair, and succeeded. Continued to push through the ‘everyday’ pain. Had two major challenges last year, I developed long QT and started having syncopes in one I broke my nose. I’m due next week to have a pacemaker inserted, have had to come off some meds, Tramadol being one of them, as they interfere with QT length in someone with long QT.
Last year as well my eldest daughters family was involved in a serious car accident, two of my grandchildren had broken backs and the other broke his neck. I coped and supported my daughter with this. We got the last one out of hospital in September last year, the accident was on 18 march. Two of the family members were on Luce support for the first three weeks in intensive care. I’m telling you these things not for sympathy but rather as a way of saying it has not been an easy year last year but I coped.
I am really struggling to cope now though with this flare up. I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck, that then decided to reverse back over me to ensure that I had pain every single part of my body. When I lay down I feel like I’m getting into a bed of concrete. I have bee on prednisone which has decreased the pain a bit and I can now walk on two crutches. The bloods I had done showed that along with the Fibro flare I had high uric acid so possibly a flare of gout along with the Fibro. I can’t take anti inflamertarories. The blood also showed I had developed a blood disorder, it’s rare and my GP (general doctor/ main everyday doctor) has been talking to an oncologist who wants a repeat blood done in two weeks before he sees me.
I am having my birthday next week, something positive to end on, and will be turning 60. When my parents turned 60 they qualified for national superannuation (age pension) but here in nz they have now pushed that out to 65. For today in some ways I’m glad for that because I probably would opt to finish work. This would never be a good time to make such a life changing decision.
I have faith, people from my church are praying but you can never have too many people praying so I’m asking those people of faith to add me to their prayer list.
Warm wishes to all and especially to those suffering today
Lynds

Hi Lindy, I just reading your post. I am so sorry you have had to endure all this! No wonder you are in so much pain. The stress you have been carrying is overwhelming to say the least. I most certainly will pray for you. Sometimes when I think I can’t take one more thing, I just have put it in Gods hands and asked him to take over for a while. I will keep you in my Prayers Lindy, Happy Birthday! I just noticed that under Groups there is a Prayer and Engery Healing group

Hi Lindy,

I can say that you must be remarkably strong to get through the year where your grandkids were hurt so badly in the car accident. It took someone with a very tough mind to get through all of that, and I'm not kidding. I think that would be enough to really shake or crack most people.

I agree with Leanne, the stress you're carrying from all of these challenges has probably put you into more pain. Plus, all of that push push pushing to get through the pain will also up the fibro ante significantly. I have found that when I do it, my fibro pain goes through the roof.

I know you are missing your job but it sounds like it'll do you good to take some time off. Resting helps to get some of the pain in check. And you truly don't want to end up back in a wheelchair, so taking it easy will hopefully help you.

By the way, can you explain what a Long QT is, as well as Luce support? I'm not familiar with the terms.

Good luck to you,

Hugs,

Petunia

Long QT is a elongated heart beat where the oxygen doesn’t get to the brain quick enough from time to time and it is then that I faint. Some people don’t come out of the other side of one of these events. More info via google.
Luce was supposed to be life support.
