My fibro has been terrible this past week. The temperature was 13 this morning. I don't want to leave the house. Maybe someone could send me to Florida, lol.
I have been in constant flare up really for about a month now since it got colder where i live. it is so horrible... I feel like i cannot do anything and go anywhere. The pain is just so unbearable. No one understands either.
It's been really cold in Seattle this week, we tend to get our real winter weather in Jan. & Feb. I tend to sleep all curled up when it's cold, which just kills my hips by the time I wake up. Going and waiting for my bus commute makes me feel like I've been dragged behind the bus by the time I get to work!
Meg
LOL - Rosie I know how you feel. I would love to be in Hawaii right now, just soaking up the sun and having a grand ol' time!
But in reality, I am here in Nevada!!! Been extremely cold and I am just miserable when I have to leave my warm house to battle snow and do my errands. I am so sore when I get home too. I also am not in a very good mood when all this stuff happens. I have had Fibro for about 30 years now and as I have told other people in the group, I have learned the meaning of PATIENCE! I don't have any choice, but to be patient. My body literally demands that I slow down if I am starting to rush myself like I used to. I always hurt, but when I have flare-ups (where the trigger points are), it's just horrible! I literally can't move because any movement at all hurts to much. I am also (like most Fibros) a very poor sleeper. Are you?? So, we, who have Fibro, have so much going on, that sometimes it can be really challenging to try to get all of it under control. Laurie
Well, maybe the cold is what is wrong with me. Never happened before. I have been doing really well for about 3 weeks, but then it got very cold...down to 1 degree at night, and with the drop in temperature the pain came back and with it a weird stiffness..kind of stiff all over.
the cold weather is terrible on my fibro. it seem to get worse after it snowed. other than moving somewhere warm does anyone have any ideas, what might help when the weather is bad and the flare ups start. I just really am glad I joined this group. I was in pain from the weather, get online and there is a post about the weather. I want to thank you all for sharing how you feel.
Keep moving:) that’s what I have to do it helps me not think about it
Yes, cold weather makes my fibro worse. And yes, it makes me not want to go outside.
These last few weeks my Fibro has been horrid. I have been having a major flare up. The last two days we had sun and today the temperature reached 45 degrees so it was like a heat wave! I have felt a little bit better with the sun having been out although I am still very sluggish and lifting heavy, even relatively heavy like a water bucket, is a bit difficult for me. It is frustrating because I keep thinking that by now after having done this for almost a year my muscles should be capable of lifting a water bucket. I feel like I am moving through water when I move which is weird and also frustrating.
I think we should all pick a place where it is sunny and warm and pretty to move to. We could start our own little commune! :)
Anne, you are not the first one to suggest starting a commune. I think it would be great. The only men allowed would be those with fibro and those we bring in to serve our every need and provide our every pleasure. Sounds like heaven to me!
I'm very sensitive to weather changes. While I enjoy the cold weather in general (I prefer winter cold over summer heat any day) it's making me stiff and I think the cold/wet weather combined with the holiday stress gave me the worst flare I've had so far.
The weather and temperature, for me, has a great impact on my feeling well or unwell, my emotions and my psyche. (While I don't like heat, I need the sunlight or I'll become depressed more easily XD so I'm still hoping for some dry, cold, sunny days with sparkly snow and ice in january)
I just got back from Florida. As soon as I hit the cold weather states (driving in my car,) I started feeling the fibro pounding at me again. I wasn't even outside in the cold but the fibro came right back. Right now my chest is hurting. My butt hurts. My elbow hurts. I'm just so so sorry to be back from Florida.
So, in answer to your question, yes yes YES the cold really does affect our fibro!
When I lived in ny I swear I could predict the weather because before a storm I would hurt through my chest and back so bad
