2022-01-13, Thursday - DAO is not low. Next question. Quite good day, but 3x nausea from doing too much (not much)
v3: 10:05 Will lower histamine in any case
v2: cracked the night-sinuses
v1: 21:50 I’m really excited about the new histamine ideas… I just have to ask the right questions (in this case “histamine at night”) and something helpful comes up…
Triggers & resulting Symptoms
SLEEP (click for details): 9h30-54' = 8h36, up 6x (54'), 2h of that dozing/Nidra tho, but feeling good: due to more GABA, fennel tea instead of soy milk (no increased peeing), acupressure for itchy/tickly skin, new acupressure for stomach burn (cos of stopping soy milk) ✅, nostrils ✅, and ➔ Feeling 90 well, Ache 1 of 7 ✅, waking up: 90%/1 ✅ tired praps, but great. Keep GABA and try soy milk again?

ACTIVITIES (aiming for 40% - well 20% - of pre-fibro) ➔ ACHE: Quite a bit of activity, still ➔ 90%/1 , tiredness less than yesterday.
Then quite a bit of nausea, despite a certain amount of energy. Brisk 40’ walk with a long break was too much ➔ 70%/2
ACTIONS ➔ PAINS: Acupressure helped itchy skin, stomach burn & nostril.
Quite a few single pains whilst walking, so I had to do some stretching for feet, arms & clavicle. I know what to do
and do it immediately
, but it’s strange going for a walk with me…

GP: DAO, mast cells? C/NAC? Cu? B3 f IL-5? WHM! Acupr! GABA. EoE? Cyto-doc? Cryoth-rx-explanation? DAO is not decreased, but it might still be histamine e.g. via the mast cells. Unfortunately at the frontiers of research again. Couldn’t help me with NAC or C. Copper he suggested food, e.g. psyllium, which I’m increasing anyway. Didn’t ask about B3 then. For EoE he recommended getting it checked properly. For cytokines and mast cells he had no idea, so I’m on my own again. Looking for an immunologist and will try to check with my ex-sleep lab psychiatrist, see if I can get hold of him telehealth-wise.

Development
Long idea list (25): Doing 1-10-12. (11 = nux not helping!) 13 didn’t help. Trying a bit of 14 low histamine, not 15 antihistamines. No sense in 16 taking DAO if it’s something else. 17 Copper from psyllium. Didn’t ask 18 = B3. Docs: Tried 20, leaving 21 + 22, trying 19 sleep ps., 24 GI and 25 looking for an immunologist.
Jab-sfx: Nausea showing doubly the low limit/radius of what I can do.
Research-search today:
I’d NEVER’ve thought/known this might be the case! So might be worth trying if GABA doesn’t help:
“I prefer sublingual 5HTP over 5HTP capsules. This is because taking 5HTP in capsule form can make the GI tract too relaxed, causing diarrhea and acid reflux. If you are taking SSRI or SNRI medications, talk with your physician before using 5HTP. (Watch out for citric acid in other brands.) I use ¼ tablet, under the tongue every 4-5 hours through the day or as needed. I also take ¼ tablet near bedtime.”
Another idea on this German page is reducing histamine food in the evening, even if DAO/histamine is OK.
Would also add to my idea to stop drinking soy milk at night, even if it means more peeing.
I don’t know if I’ve used this study about cryotherapy and cytokines before: The effect of prolonged whole-body cryostimulation treatment with different amounts of sessions on chosen pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines levels in healthy men - PubMed Makes me wonder if I should cold shower a second time at night, even tho my sinuses make me feel as if I have a cold. Now after the first cold shower, they may have gone down a bit, altho my skin feels a bit too alive at first.
Since I’m trying to avoid soy milk at night due to histamine, as well as nuts e.g. almonds, I now need acupressure for burning stomach: Acupressure Points for a Burning Stomach - YouTube. It worked.

More details on histamine, making a diet seem more manageable than I thought. (Not sure about grains yet tho. Potatoes are OK.
To increase histamin I need to replace beans & soy with other veg (blueberries, broccoli, chicoree, china cabbage, carrots, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, cabbage, salad) & potatoes & rice. Apples, figs, brussels sprouts and savoy may be OK: https://www.lebensmittelunvertraeglichkeiten.de/wp-content/uploads/histamin-tabelle.pdf. Also replace avocados, figs?, gherkins, raisins. Doesn’t mention nuts.
Here it says vitamin C is good - but in a study it said it reduces DAO and it’s one of the two things where stopping has helped: Histaminintoleranz: Nutzen Sie diese histaminsenkenden Nahrungsmittel - experto.de. Quercetin is good as well as basil, fennel, echinacea, camomille and ginkgo (of what I tolerate).
Here https://www.vitaproof.com/fileadmin/user_upload/Vitaproof_Tipps/Allergiedatenbank/Histamin-Intoleranz_V5.pdf it puts the OK ones under good, after they have been eliminated for a time, and adds cucumbers, hokkaido, rice only white/polished, water melons & zucchini. It doesn’t mention nuts or grains, like the above.
This 16 Natural Antihistamine Foods (Plus Benefits!) | Prana Thrive says mung bean sprouts are good.
This thinks alfalfa sprouts may be good Allergies and Alfalfa | Healthy Eating | SF Gate
This page blames NAC (not vit. C) for reducing DAO: Histamin-Intoleranz. Aspirin and diclo are bad, ibuprofen is OK
Keep histamin down in the evenings, even without intolerance: Histamin als Ursache für Schlafstörungen
histamine activates noradrenalin, bad for sleep, stress, anxiety, depression Wie Histamin das Gehirn beeinflusst - Histaminikus. They talk about decreased methylation, C-fibres and mast cells. They recommend testing for: Histamin in the stool, the amount of histamine degradation,
serum DAO (centrifuged), histamin in the blood, copper, SAMe/methionin, manganese, B6, zinc, B12 and calcium, additionally best: Serotonin, glutamate, GABA, Adrenaline, Noradrenaline, Dopamine, the enzyme creatinine (urine)
Prefers saying histaminosis, because intolerance isn’t really fitting https://heilpraktiker-petrak.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Petrak_Histaminose_0412.pdf Stinging nettles contain histamine, so I’m glad I didn’t try that as a tea last night. Nausea, sleep problems, gastritis/heartburn/reflux, tachycardia (fast heartbeat), skin itchiness and flush. Lowers blood pressure… (so watch that that doesn’t get higher now.) No vinegar. DAO depends on copper, B6 and zinc: So copper now? Amitriptyline & theophylline and quite a few more decrease that. Even if DAO is slightly above the norm (10) it might still be a problem if a lot of histamines are flooding in. Check copper level.
Lessons in self-care #186 Well done!
