(Just thought in the post to Freedom: I spose I’m not lying on the sofa anymore, like a lot in my first year, because it’s harder to type and sitting with the sofa behind or to the side of me is the most comfortable sitting position, better for my back, and also lets me do various stretches.)
I think I’m finding it hard to do the breath-holding, cos I up to now don’t do anything else at the same time - it is sposed to be meditative as well. But maybe I should do both: Once meditative, the other times while watching something that doesn’t take all my attention.
Jab-sfx: again waking at 8:35 stuffy nose & sinuses - not quite as bad as the days before. Why? Is that also histamine?

regarding what to do Shiller recommends “Whether you get vaccinated or not, doing general measures to help immunity and overall health is a no-brainer. That includes regular moderate exercise, stress reduction, good social connections and finding ways to cultivate emotional health. Research suggests regular intake of an appropriate amount of vitamin D and zinc are protective against viral infection. Theoretically, quercetin can help zinc get into cells and that can slow viral growth. It’s also a good idea to eat a diet low in processed food and simple carbohydrates, and high in nutrient-dense foods, lean protein and lots of fruits and vegetables, unless another medical condition makes it a bad idea.”

and Teitelbaum recommends optimizing his SHINE protocol (= supplements) .

Another one (Apr20) in a similar vein: "For prophylaxis, the medical school recommends vitamin C (500 mg) and quercetin (250 mg-500 mg twice a day) with zinc (75 mg-100 mg per day), melatonin (0.3 mg-2 mg) each night, and vitamin D3 (1,000-4,000 IU per day). Our pain type (at the moment called nociplastic / idiopathic / centralized by pain docs)

I don’t think I feel the Ache from overdoing it because my Ache threshold is reduced either, as my wife can see the pain in my eyes & face (she says it goes white/grey/green). Altho pain experts would say the pain is real, just that overdoing it is no real trigger for it, so her being able to see it wouldn’t be an argument. Still, I don’t believe there is no real trigger for it, I just think the triggers haven’t been found, because they are elusive and on a hormonal and cellular level, rather than just on a neuro level. So I’m thinking they’ll have to change the definition of the new 3rd category of pain, “nociplastic” = “idiopathic” pain, away from = the “centralized pain” / “central sensitization syndrom” type pain it is described as nowadays. I’m even wondering if “hyperalgesia” (pain-amplfication) and “allodynia” (painful to touch) will be seen differently, because they may/will find triggers for it. I think the 2 traditional pain types, nociceptive (normal injury) and neuropathic (nerve injury) maybe don’t see room for a maybe “cellular” pain, altho this should be either counted as nociceptive or the 3rd new category we fall into.

Idea that new vaccines might need to leave off parts of the spike which cause eosinophilic complications:
In the rare serious complications of vaccines described in this recent review from Dec21, mine are not mentioned: Serious complications of COVID-19 vaccines: A mini-review - PubMed, full article: Serious complications of COVID-19 vaccines: A mini-review - ScienceDirect. Closest is perhaps myocarditis, but my cardiologist found a healthy heart last Tuesday.
I’d mentioned this study in my last links, but trying to edit it annihilated my draft for the next day :roll_eyes: COVID-19 vaccine side effects: The positives about feeling bad - the positives are not related to the type of side effect’s I’m experiencing.

Thoroughly edited Jan 10th 12:35. This is now the longer version of a short one in answer to Freedom here.
Edit Feb 7th, after 10 weeks: Added the new supps and the continuing jab side effects.

My jab-sfx struggle

…against the unusual continuing severe side effects from my 1st Pfizer vaccine on Nov 30th, which are

  • greatly increased most fibro symptoms (Fatigue & Ache is 3- to 4-fold, with breathlessness (masks more of a problem again), shakiness & stiffness; colder, but then suddenly I overheat). But not just throwing me back, it’s
  • worse than fibro alone has ever been (I can’t even play table tennis, can’t move fast or longer, so definitely can’t work at all) and there are
  • new symptoms (sometimes nauseous (all the time the first few weeks), fluey-congested nose) &
  • slightly changed symptoms (feverishness, skin burning & itchy & often hurting even from short showering, severe esophagus blocks almost daily, hurt less but are more strongly blocked).
  • All despite the fact that I’m taking a maximum of supps (25, 10 of them specifically targetting this) and have increased to a maximum of slow regular exercises & relaxation (3-4h/d!).

There are good things about it:

  • all my local pains (incl. GI & bladder) remain zero if I keep up the self treatments.
  • my sleep is slightly deeper (but I feel unwell at night, so sleep breaks longer).
  • I usually feel pretty good if I don’t move.
  • I still enjoy life.
  • I don’t miss that much, my laptop helps keep me active, distracted & get new ideas.

Some things are neutral:

  • I’ve had to and have been able to give up acupressure, because it’s hurting, and not longer helping after having greatly helped minimizing the local pains. I’ve increased self-treatments & self-care tho.
  • Also I have a few hours in between where I feel like before the jab. These have got less tho. And sometimes days which aren’t quite as bad as other - however not getting more. Enough to allow cycle-walks, i.e. slow cycling, but not walks, faster cycling or table tennis. A maximum of 1-2h of activities per day. I sit leant against my sofa almost all day, changing positions/stretching and communicating with the world via laptop almost all the time.
  • I am still pretty happy. I’m wearing down tho. Laughing a lot and crying isn’t that far apart.
  • I’m managing to make a bit of music sometimes, but singing is hardly possible.
  • It’s got pretty clear that it’s a histamine over-reaction, but I’ve already been doing a lot in that direction without it helping.

Worst:

  • No improvement. Some things got better in the first few days or weeks, others worse.
  • Having to put off dentist’s appointments, altho they are pressing.
  • Not being able to play any table tennis.

My hopes:

0) Knowing it’s probably a histamine over-reaction, with probably cytokine immune involvement, means I’m trying to implement things I learn at the forefront of research - so studies, but also youtube for physical treatments I haven’t thought of yet:

Treatments

Physio/physical:
1) Wim Hof’s breath-holding is helping a bit (quality of life at least) so increasing; & integrating more breath-exercises (incl. while cold showering)
2) Thus managing 2 short sharp cold showers for feverishness.
3) Acupressure points for breathlessness etc.
4) Creaming feet regularly and
5) Bathing feet regularly for temperature regulation.
6) Generally creaming more for skin burning & itching.

Supps/homeopathy

for single symptoms
7) Changing GABA/glutamine for stiffness, first increasing.
8) & seizures, which increase cytokines (which?).
9) & bladder pain “syndrome” (cytokines increased - which?) (study)
10) Changed magnesium malate to glycinate at day.
11) Nux vomica D12 (or something else) for nausea.

for histamine
12) Leaving off 2 supps (vit. C & NAC) that are recommended against histamine, but apparently increase DAO seems to have improved a little (showering better)
13) I’m being tested for the histamine enzyme DAO. If that is down, then supplementing it might help - the medical evidence for that helping is scant but increasing.
14) a low histamine diet would mean eating about 5% of what others can eat, instead of 20%.
15) Antihistamines would make me even more tired. My GP recommends for me not to do either, BUT 2-3 weeks?
16) Why not try taking DAO for HIT anyway?
17) Copper for HIT? (verywellhealth).

18) If it were IL-6 in my case after all, would B3 (& magnesium) help after all or make it worse?

Prognosis

On “Health Rising’s expert’s page” there is this comment: " amy on May 6, 2021 at 10:28 am
I’m one of Chheda’s two patients still in a bad flare after 5 weeks. She implied in my recent appointment that this reaction was relatively common and said it could go on for six months or more. Odd since it sounds like this is actually quite rare! Really hope they are eventually able to tease out why this would help some of us, not be a problem for most, and cause major problems for a few – perhaps just a matter of what other viruses we have onboard." Doesn’t sound as if Chheda has answers.

Update Jan 14th. Got almost all 25 under way:
1-10+12 are helping.
11 = increasing nux to several times daily.
13/16/17 = I’ll test DAOsin & copper anyway.
14 = I’m gradually lowering histamine in food.
Won’t try 15 = antihistamines.
Didn’t ask 18 = B3.
Contacted 19, 20 & 25: 2 immunologists near me,
21 + 22 = I’m checking online what Klimas & Chheda say about MCAS, found a lot already.
24 I have a GI-referral for my dysphagia, but need to get everything else down first, if it’s due to MCAS I’ll maybe get it under control that way.

So MCAS, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, is my next area… The next list is coming up…


Update Feb 7th: tomorrow is the end of the 10th week of the jab sfx

Measures:

1-12 are still helping, so reduced, plus the MCAS-supps (see below) help.
7: Increasing GABA to 4x.6g has reduced seizures & bladder, but stiffness is still a problem.
10: magnesium glycinate is out, so malate now.
12: A bit of vit. C didn’t seem to work, a bit of NAC to improve sleep did (forgot tonight…).
Still experimenting tho.
13/16: Taking NATURDAO before meals seems to help. 14: Reducing histamine also.
15: I’ll chat with my allergologist about antihistamines.
17: I’ll ask my GP to check my copper. It’d be in psyllium, as he said, should start that again.
19: My ex-sleep psychiatrist has no ideas. 20: Nor has Cort.

For experts (19-25) I’ve started with my gastroenterologist (EoE, MCAS and more), trying my allergologist tomorrow, asking my GP for copper and Anti-P tomorrow.

26: I’ve been using almost all A&B (not C) hoffmancentre MCAS-supps as I list them here since Jan 26th, so again I’m between 25 and 30 supps. Due to running out and wanting to see if it makes a difference I sometimes taper some out or stop them, but not these new ones yet: chamomile tea & DAO; not A3 curcumin, not A7 vitamin C, the others slightly higher. Then B.1-8: luteolin, increased ginkgo/ubiquinol, silymarin, ellagic acid, increased pycnogenol, honokiol, parthenolide, except B4 shea oil.

What I need to try more is praps doubling ALA and adding at least 1 NAC at night and praps at least 1 vit. C (buffered).

Symptoms

Tongue burning started again around Jan 30th again. Jan 31st I researched that for real Burning Mouth Syndrome you’d have to see something, and that reminds me that “unreal” again suggests MCAS. And tonight what woke/got me up at 4/5 was realizing how my tongue burning had been suggesting dry mouth, but actually it’s not just sticking together, it’s very painful.

On Sat/Feb 5th I noted
“I still haven’t been able to transgress the 30% mark of physical activity back to 40%, altho most don’t seem that conspicuous to me any more. If I compare once again to the list of jab-sfx here JayCS’s Fibro Blog - #615 by JayCS, quite a few have decreased, but I still have 1-7, 11, and partly 12, 13, 15, 17, 18, 25, which is 14 of 25 (21 of which were there on day 12 and long following). A new one is not being able to focus my eyes properly a lot of the day.”

What is clear is: 10 weeks after it, I am still nowhere near pre-jab, despite all my helpful measures (new & increased supps, breathing & cold showering).

Noting differences to Dec 12th I’d say most are slightly better, some a bit better (skin, heat), but some worse (“burnt” tongue, no bouts of improvement any more), some I know how to treat (sinuses).
Altogether if I was trying to get at 40% activity level pre-jab, I now never get above 30%, and the procedures I’m now going thru (endoscopy, possibly tooth extraction) are sending me down to 10, then 20%, whilst the 2nd jab is now looming up ahead…

Doing all physical ones 1-6 (6 = itchiness: acupressure seems to help), supps 7-10 + 12. Haven’t tried 11 recently. Wasn’t nec. today. Waiting for 13-17(GP), wondering about 18. Docs: Tried 20, waiting (GP) for the rest. Don’t need to repeat the following days, made a long list for the GP. Only reminder for trying nux vomica.
#24 “EoE”: This doc about dysphagia is a gastroenterologist, that’s probably where I should go again. He says please take it seriously. Whether I take meds or not, praps I should get it looked at again more closely, or they can help me clarify whether that has to do with histamine too, e.g. by exclusion of anything else.

Jab-sfx: I felt slightly better today, so did slightly more. Result is getting really tired and fatigued, incl. brain fatigue = fog by 16:00, altho I’d lain in 9h30 last night. 18:30: Trying 1g of D-Ribose for energy now, altho it’s a bit late, slowly time to get into bed mode? 19:50 After 30’ to shop, bought 30kg of food and could walk upstairs with all of it at once, so energy & strength is OK, but dead tired, only the fresh air. Bed earlier? Or do less? No crash, but also not sustainably cracked it yet…
What if the remaining feverishness is again tiredness, like it was when I hadn’t got it under control, so I need to get my sleep earlier or nap.

Jab-sfx: Strangely feeling pretty well at 19:30 so accompanied my wife to dancing on my bike (10’), still no problem. Even feel like doing a workout in a minute. Reminds me that several of the times I was feeling better were in the evenings. Also seems strange: wouldn’t histamine mean the food at daytime is a trigger, so no food at night would mean less symptoms? Or is it the percentage of food - should I try drinking water at night instead of histaminic soy drink?
Research-search today:
Wondering about why the nights and mornings are so bad, afternoons and evenings better, or like today even good (if that’s true; but at least the sinuses are worst at night.), I’ve looked up histamine at night and came up with the relationship to GABA and also once again the diagnosis mast cell activation syndrome, have to pay more attention to that (is that supported by evidence or more functional/alternative?)

This suggests that histamine levels are highest at 3am! That’s it!

GP: DAO, mast cells? C/NAC? Cu? B3 f IL-5? WHM! Acupr! GABA. EoE? Cyto-doc? Cryoth-rx-explanation? DAO is not decreased, but it might still be histamine e.g. via the mast cells. Unfortunately at the frontiers of research again. Couldn’t help me with NAC or C. Copper he suggested food, e.g. psyllium, which I’m increasing anyway. Didn’t ask about B3 then. For EoE he recommended getting it checked properly. For cytokines and mast cells he had no idea, so I’m on my own again. Looking for an immunologist and will try to check with my ex-sleep lab psychiatrist, see if I can get hold of him telehealth-wise.

I’d NEVER’ve thought/known this might be the case! So might be worth trying if GABA doesn’t help:
“I prefer sublingual 5HTP over 5HTP capsules. This is because taking 5HTP in capsule form can make the GI tract too relaxed, causing diarrhea and acid reflux. If you are taking SSRI or SNRI medications, talk with your physician before using 5HTP. (Watch out for citric acid in other brands.) I use ¼ tablet, under the tongue every 4-5 hours through the day or as needed. I also take ¼ tablet near bedtime.”
Another idea on this German page is reducing histamine food in the evening, even if DAO/histamine is OK.
Would also add to my idea to stop drinking soy milk at night, even if it means more peeing.
I don’t know if I’ve used this study about cryotherapy and cytokines before: The effect of prolonged whole-body cryostimulation treatment with different amounts of sessions on chosen pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines levels in healthy men - PubMed Makes me wonder if I should cold shower a second time at night, even tho my sinuses make me feel as if I have a cold. Now after the first cold shower, they may have gone down a bit, altho my skin feels a bit too alive at first.

DAO depends on copper, B6 and zinc: So copper now? Amitriptyline & theophylline and quite a few more decrease that. Even if DAO is slightly above the norm (10) it might still be a problem if a lot of histamines are flooding in. Check copper level.

Docs: Psychotherapy: I was sposed to practice looking at my face in the mirror, which I have been doing more, to be able to self-care more, see better how I’m feeling. Brilliant trick to dissolve thoughts tonight, not sure if I can repeat them tho, or if they were just a one-off (like a kite-holding that used to work for a time and hold off thoughts). I’d sillily just looked at work mails before bed and saw & skimmed one with various impulses. In bed, my brain went off. So I “dived” into the ideas, “enlarged” them, like a balloon, which made them look ridiculous and so dissolved them. The 3rd and 4th “appearances” were a kind of musical idea, which upon enlarging again looked utterly boring and uninteresting, so lost its hold and something to do with calendar appointments. Then I countered the remnants by doing yoga nidra inside (Ally’s help) which succeeded by being much stronger than them. (Let’s see if I can keep hold on to it. Problem may be what happens if the idea doesn’t become ridiculous, but really helpful & good, like the musical ideas I had a few days ago. But maybe it’s still good for all those that are ridiculous, which does occur fairly often.)

To improve my self-judgment and self-care I just had a 10 minute session with my wife of how to judge and interpret my face, even if cortisol/eustress isn’t allowing me to feel the Ache yet.
As one would think it’s mainly the colours around my eyes and lips that are most telling, as well as overall. It all tends to go white, blue and sometimes slightly green. If I’m really overdoing it, I get a white circle around my eyes and/or my lips go white-blue, losing all redness.
To improve my loins (& their pain) I want to do more exercises or use my massage pistol. Can’t find anything for massage pistol, and no exercises directly for loins, but “sitting cross-legged” may get me somewhere.

Hi JayCS, sorry you’re still feeling crummy. Doesn’t Germany have universal healthcare? My brain is a bit foggy so I might not be using the correct terminology. Are your medications and supplements paid for through your healthcare system or do you have to pay for them? If you are working but find you are no longer able to work, can you go on disability? Does your employer pay or Germany paid for it? Do you get to choose what doctors you see or does someone tell you who you can and cannot see? I have lots of questions for you today. :grin:

2022-01-23, Sunday - dysphagia changed since gastritis on Oct 30th.

v2: 16:40: Worked out the different dysphagia is since gastritis
9:25 capsules got stuck :pill::pill::pill::pill::pill::pill::pill:, couldn’t drink for an hour, everything I tried up again (except the capsules)… exhausted…

The esophagus blocks changed before the jab tho, after the gastritis on Oct 30th.

e.g. Nov 21st the esophagus blocks and Nov 19th when I’d decided it was the gastritis that started the new era of esophagus blocks (less painful, but more severe). Nov 10th I noted esophagus blocks on 3 consecutive days at the weekend before = Nov 5th to 8th, and Nov 2nd: “esophagus block once a day at the mo”. Oct 30th I got a gastritis, I think from a stomach bug from visiting my grandchild on the 26th (who’d had one till about the 20th). Oct 29th it’s not clear to me, whether the wind (“meteorism”) my GP saw in the sono was A) due to the gastritis coming up or B) the wind problems I’d been having anyway since Oct 24th: Wind & bloating started Oct 24th, off and on, e.g. Oct 27th trying to explain wind by macadamia or ginkgo, but this was the day I visited my grandchild, from whom I thought to have got the gastritis and on Oct 25th I was suspecting ribose for bloating & wind on the 24th.
But the severe abdomen pain while twisting couldn’t be explained otherwise by the bloods taken, results on Nov 16th showed nothing. (Nov 6th thinking about bloods for abdomen problems.)

Problems - stomach AND esophagus - definitely increased with arginine & carnitine powders, pectin - and the total amount of supps increasing in Nov, starting around 4th, may have been added strain is a thought I have since the block due to the capsules this morning:

  • Nov 11th: arginine & carnitine (powder, without capsules) I started caused additional esophagus problems & stomach burn. and Nov 27th: Encapsulated carnitine, stopped arginine, whilst
  • Nov 15th Pectin: "First trial with 2g pectin was dreadful, even not having eaten much at all - my esophagus/stomach cramped and I cdnt swallow, even after 10’. Now I’ve waited another 10’, try again… - Nov 16th esophagus & stomach were still aching I thought due to pectin.
  • GI, but not esophagus: Nov 5th: Blamed GI problems on zinc (gnarling hungry tummy after the new zinc, burning hunger & anus stinging like after tomatoes at 12:00, wind 15:00-18:00).

BUT! How come stomach burn & esophagus blocks without heartburn? Nov 12th that I haven’t had heartburn of late, which is still the case!? Something for my GI-doc.

Other symptoms I’ve mainly attributed to the jab are sinuses, nausea & skin:

  • Nov 30th I had the same sinus symptoms & nausea immediately after the jab, same day, an hour after it. I’d been telling people the first few days were like that of others. But actually I’ve been having these ‘allergic’ reactions since then.
  • But I was also slightly nauseous on Nov 25th.
  • Nov 8th I noted nausea from a red heat lamp the day before, the 7th, when I’d noted tummy ache from it.
  • Skin problems: I was trying niacin/B3 around that time too, e.g. Nov 16th, and getting itchy flushes, but only did that for a bit, I can’t imagine that exacerbating the jab reaction(?)

Well “universal healthcare” is relative… may seem so, but…
We have a compulsory/statutory/public insurances for “most” / “everyone”, but people with more money or certain jobs (e.g. self-employed) can choose (“not” to or) to take out a private insurance. (The compulsory ones cost a fixed % of the income, the private ones start cheap and end up expensive as you age.)
Then there’s several possibilities in the middle. Each of the “20” compulsory insurances and of the “20” private insurances has a set of things they have to pay for things for, esp. acute sickness, but also quite a lot of things they don’t have to, and stuff “without sufficient medical evidence” often belong to these. Private ones are usually more generous than compulsory ones. But even they won’t always pay for prescribed supps or treatments out of the ordinary, and the compulsory insurances usually don’t. And too expensive meds or treatments or things like aspirin aren’t usually paid for either. Since the kind of stuff I’m trying for fibro etc. isn’t mainstream, I’m having to pay for almost all supps and the ozone injections myself, and I’m not sure how long they’d’ve paid for my physio (expensive) & they’re also choosy about my psychotherapy.
Disability also has several systems, but I think for most people the state pays. However not much. They have to be convinced first, tho, maybe that’s not as tough as in your case tho.
Seeing doctors is quite a bit easier than in the UK for instance. It used to be harder to go to specialists or get a second opinion. But the specialists have to be licensed in a certain way, and the real experts or practicing more complementary medicine may partly be so, but the compulsory insurances still make it hard for them to take on people.

Found a very informative site about DAO, original entries from 2014, but comments after, up to 2020, and answering a lot of my questions, now my NATURDAO has just come. As the HDU-number goes mine is apparently extremely potent, whether my blood-DAO-level is low or not seems pretty irrelevant for the gut levels, and taking it pretty shortly before eating and then eating inside of 45’ is best for the poster. Altho I can’t say my histaminey symptoms are food related, e.g. the sinuses start up at night and there isn’t much fluctuation at daytime…
