JayCS’s Fibro Blog

2022-01-31, Monday - 30%+ Good sleep, fibro-work first thing didn’t do my body good tho… still didn’t do as much self-treatments as I’d’ve thought necessary and ended up quite well thru TT and getting a lot of things sorted.

Triggers & resulting Symptoms

SLEEP (click for details): 9h19, up 4x (26') ✅✅, but ➔ Feeling 90 well, Ache 2 of 7 🧐, waking up: 80%/2-3 🧐/❌, most importantly a 20 second cold shower at 3, vs. histaminey sinus pressure/burning staying a bit or building up again afterwards, whilst the burnt tongue is decreasing to a bit. Another treatment difference to the worse sleep before was drinking & not forgetting the (cold) chamomile tea, This shows that it's likely important to keep everything up day & night that I'm doing, as it's not even enough to keep the "histamine" down at night. Maybe the 10 seconds less in the shower wakes me up less; I thought it might not be enough, it was a decision on the spur of the moment, as often, but obviously it was enough, a 2.5h stint after (the longest). Also I targeted my face most. Question might be if a 3rd very short cold shower later, esp. if sleep isn't working might be worth a try. Also on my big supp grid I've just seen that quercetin is good for sleep as well as best with resveratrol, which is best taken when empty, so I'd keep 1 Rs with Qc at 17:00 and 7:00 (before the carb muesli), plus take the day's quercetin to after the evening meal, e.g. 19:00 and 21:00 and see if stomach problems are still OK, but sleep better - see research below.

ACTIVITIES (aiming for 40% - well 20% - of pre-fibro)ACHE: Resting with fw 1.5h first thing has done my mind good, but not my body ➔ 70%/3. But thru table tennis and after it was actually all quite OK, so ➔ 80-90%/2-1 most of the day, I guess.
"HOW DO I LOOK?" Didn’t look much, but my lips were much redder when I did. :face_with_monocle:

Docs: Bracing myself for tooth clean and gastroenterologist tomorrow. Got the antigen test today already. I hope I remember everything.

SELF-PHYSIO (click for details): 2h14 ✅. Hmm, after a good night, so little self-treatments, I've also had a good day, doing a lot (not too strenuous tho, but cycling quite a bit), feeling hardly any limits, I apparently haven't felt any need for any self-treatments either much... At least by my standards... 1.5h... Ah, I'll just add a bit of stuff while finishing this entry off, to get it above 2h at least... Also I'm just remembering some stuff I was doing during table tennis etc. I do quite a bit without thinking about it. But I might easily forget, knowing me...

Supps (27th: 28): Still haven't worked out the - now pretty immense costs of the supps. See above: quercetin now at 19:00 and 21:00. After checking if any other supp is more for sleep, I've always taken that into account. CHANGE: I'm sure I could still add more RIBOSE! I think I'll place that more conspicuously, maybe I need some trophies for it, to make it a habit. PLANNED/TAKEN TODAY: click for details:

Development
Jab-sfx: Burnt tongue gone down to a bit first thing in the morning, but returning to medium. Sinuses OK all day, but recurring after 18:30.
Research-search today: On an MCAS forum (HU) someone answered me that antihistamines only make tired at the beginning, and in the evening can help sleep. That sounds better than I thought… Maybe I should research antihistamines more or just try them, esp. if I do decide to do a 2nd jab…
Quercetin: Looking up brain fog supps for a forum, I saw on my big supp grid that quercetin might be good for sleep, which would be killing 2 birds with one stone at night. However I feel a bit onion-like while and after taking it, and if that were the part of the onion that is bad for my GI, that’d make sleep worse. “Researching” it I can see some strange/wrong things being said (e.g. calling it a “brand”), and that the FDA are understandably wary of unproven health claims. But wikipedia is the most helpful source at the moment: Fennel, dill, carob, buckwheat, lovage & capers all contain more (increasing order) than red onions, so if it’s the onion smell, it’s not the same substance as causes my onion GI problems. (Here it says that a protein in onions can cause allergy type symptoms, fermentable carbohydrates (FODMAPs) would also be in sweet stuff like watermelons, peaches and dried fruit, which I have no issues with, or “onions” can just cause GERD. My stomach burning isn’t mentioned anywhere, probably associated with the latter tho.) OK, according to wp-e it has a half-life of only 1-2h, eliminated quickly, good to know. And it’s unsure if in vitro experiments are enough proof that it can work in vivo. The aglyconate form is less bioavailable, but I’ve just looked up: Mine is a biological form, from the Japanese pagoda tree, which was said to be a good form when I researched it. High fat foods may help ingestion (hmm: nuts, but they’re high in histamine… still need to eat them tho), rather than high carb foods (which I hardly eat anyway, except muesli! in the mornings!..). Regarding sfx Laura here adds: overdosing may cause inflammation, joint discomfort would be the sign. Stomach problems may occur, so I think I’ll not add the 4th dose at night aside from “7:00” and shortly before “17:00” and after “19:00” evening meals. Keep the single doses down to <.8mg and daily total <2.4g, so 3x.8mg, so my 4x.5mg should be fine.
Burning painful tongue (posted this at HU): Just ‘researched’ this, as I had the feeling of a “burnt tongue” (as in scalded) directly after my jab and again for 2 days now. Haven’t got a solution yet, but came across ‘burning mouth syndrome’ if there are things to see on it, which there isn’t in my case, also it probably wouldn’t just be at the tip of the tongue, but also on lips, cheeks. My suspicions histamine or anti histamine supps don’t seem to fit as generally my symptoms are improving due to my self-treatments and my last 4 supps I’ve been using in fairly low dose for almost a week now. As I had it on the days directly after the jab exactly 2 months ago, seems it’s revisiting me… maybe coming up as the other symptoms are going down, as a transition (!?!) Of course I didn’t eat or drink anything hot or even warm or cold, but it is hypersensitive to that, and an allergologist once stated that as indicative of a ‘hidden’ atopical dermatitis / neurodermatitis, i.e. all my skins are hypersensitive, inside and out (and all he could suggest was avoid all triggers, like I do. But there is no discernible trigger aside from the jab. Burnt tongue longer than the normal 24h would mean it’s not one single event, but a process.)
I’ll be asking my dentists and my gastroenterologist tomorrow, but I very much doubt it, same goes for my GP.

Lessons in self-care #207 It’s OK not pressuring self-physio, if it doesn’t seem necessary!
Lessons in self-care #208 Good to find how changing quercetin might improve histamine AND sleep! Goes to show that helping others helps me too.
Reasons to be cheerful #216 Much better day than it started, and the start was OK too.
Reasons to be cheerful #217 One “half” of my insurances mistakenly paid me double for 8 months of bills! - It’s fun telling them that! Of course the other way round’d be better.
