SLEEP (click for details): 8h19, up 4x (41') ✅, but ➔ Feeling 70-80% well, Ache 2 of 7 🧐, waking up: 80%/2 🧐, but agitated due to the prospect of the fasting before the gastroscopy and the next few months. Reducing 2nd cold shower to only 18 seconds, plus NAC-powder helped.

Jab-sfx: TT curbed at 4 games wasn’t the tooth, cos nausea came in the 5th, at night some skin burning and sinuses from late night till midday, altho not strong.

Do vit.C & NAC really decrease DAO??
So I’m still looking for an explanation why vitamin C and NAC (also theophylline, and even the antihistamines Cimetidine & Prometazina) often help, altho according to this review from 2020, in Table 2 they decrease DAO. I’ve followed the 4 references given above that table: They are studies from 1985, 1988, 2009 & 2014 and none of the abstracts refer to vit. C or NAC, and neither general nor pubmed searches come up with anything relevant. So I’m wondering if this is a fluke?
NAC-intolerant subgroup of MCAS
But Lisa Dostmann refers to a study (which is here: Waring & Bateman 2008) that found histamine release after NAC in those that have side effects.
So that’d be “proof” of what we know that we generally react differently, and that NAC is a common problem - for a subgroup of MCAS.
I was actually taking 5x.5g a day before the jab with no problems.
At the moment I’m trying to add a bit of NAC again, hoping it can improve my morning sleep again, so a nightly dose after 3. “Funnily” I got diarrhea after the first time, so after a tip looked at the pill ingredients, which explained it: I’d got some pills from the same company I’d bought the powder from, without realizing that they’d put 6 additives in the pills, the filling agent being “a bit” laxative … Then returning to the powder (.5g, encapsulating it to protect esophagus & stomach) went quite well tonight (slight stomach ache).
NAC (amino acid derivative) also seems acidic, its half-life is 5-6h, and it takes 1-2h to work, so the sinuses start burning at 3… it might be worth trying taking it earlier whilst my stomach is fuller.
And taking 1-2 of my 4x.3g passiflora later instead.
Vitamin C
I’m not that flexible with varieties of vitamin C, it has to be buffered cos of my stomach acid, but I will have a look if I can find another sort. Or repeat the experiment a 3rd time first…
What healthline
says on vitamin C suggests rare side effects and help for my sinuses… draxe it’s best to take it with meals, but not necessarily a problem at night…
So I spose I’ll still be playing around with both NAC and vit. C…
Still haven’t found anything more about copper?, I can find only verywellhealth mentioning it.
Interesting that this old pig study from 1988 mentions spoilt food as DAO inhibitor, which is logical, but all this “old food” stuff is something that I’m gonna need to get used to, as I’ve been focusing on using up older food for sustainability reasons the last few years. Only a few months ago did I for the first time hear the opposite…
In this German study from 2014 they found heightened histamine due to seasickness, and they tested vitamin C, seeing as it helps in mastocytosis, and it helped, esp, <27yo.
