I asked my GP today about phosphate deficiency and apart from looking it up suggested not to take the supps but to increase mozzarella and Emmentaler cheese, despite the high fat content, also to go back to cooking cabbage/kale.
Dentist again on 20th after treatment on 6th brought energy down for 8+ days… Pain down in a few hours this time (but only due to strict rest), however energy again down to 5-10%.
Chinese Acupuncturist - #29 on 10th, after 14 days :white_check_mark: Still good - would be 20-25% energy if it weren’t for the tooth treatments. Session #30 on 7th.

Yesterday: Feeling 75% → 65%, “depression” 1 (30%), + 1 breath-hold. Ache 25-35% stiff 10% spine 20% shoulder 1 (20%) → 12 of 19, fog 15 GI 15, depression 1 (30%).

By asking if I hadn’t tolerated the chemical bit of the dental treatment a mate reminded me that I by far hadn’t recovered from the 1st treatment (could hardly manage 2 TT games) when I got the 2nd done, so this isn’t the backlash from the 20th, it’s mainly the backlash from the 6th Sep. :bangbang: Also my cardio is right that it’s too early to get the jab if I haven’t recovered from these, that was always my principle. :bangbang: Also it may be a combination with the phosphorus deficiency :bangbang:

Feeling ‘down’ Friday evening, maybe the Ache getting too me. But ‘up’ Saturday, maybe the Phosphorus increasing

Just came across a question for me here by @Freedom in January which had eluded me, asking if I’d tried LDN… Esp. pertinent at the moment, and seeing I’d linked to some Danish studies there I looked if these had been cited anywhere else, and sure enough, there is a Spanish “INNOVA” study announced 2022: Study protocol for a randomised, double-blinded, placebo-controlled phase III trial examining the add-on efficacy, cost-utility and neurobiological effects of low-dose naltrexone (LDN) in patients with fibromyalgia (INNOVA study) - PubMed
Researching CDCA I’ve now found it’s only prescribed for a certain genetic condition here, announced as new 2017. So a route that’ll be strenuous to follow…

Successes:
:trophy: It occurred to me again today, how I had much more severe brain fog 2 years ago, I can play our daily card game completely normally, fast, few mistakes, not dropping cards while shuffling them.
:zap: Since pumpkin seeds have ~1230 phosphorus, even half of that, allowing for the phytic acid part would be 615 mg/100g. (However I’m already eating loads, cos they’re brilliant for so much - protein, bladder etc. and little risk for histamine etc., can’t really increase them that much.)
Learnt:
:student: I realized that I’d been quoting phosphorus in mg/g which isn’t possible - it’s mg/100g. Phosphorus in mozzarella isn’t 65.6%, it’s 0.65%, of course. Editing the above now.

‘Research’ today:
Inositol = in German Inosit.
Myo-inositol (now for sleep) = Used to be called B8. Most common form. But the body can make it from glucose. Can be made by hydrolyzing phytic acid. Can help prediabetes, improves insulin (wp). Inflluences blood sugar, serotonin, dopamine. Also in nuts and beans.
It might help breast cancer (a bit, tiny study), like phytic acid, IP6 - the phosphor sort that I thought was sposed to be bad… !
Yes, that does reduce some minerals, but only with an unhealthy diet. What helps convert phytic acid to inositol even outside the body is fermenting as sourdough or sprouting.
Phytic acid is the six-fold dihydrogenphosphate ester of myo-inositol.
If sprouts are that nutritious, I spose I should be eating more. But how come then that the phosphorus content isn’t that high? Wheat sprouts most with 200mg according to fitaudit.
This German site explains that phytic acid is actually good, just not too much of it. It’s paleo diet people who are most in worry, whilst it’s vegans and vegetarians who have the most problems with it.
Of the foods I eat a lot of, phytic acid is high in pumpkin seeds (4.3g/100g), almonds 3.2g, beans 2.4g and oats 1.2g. For these if I don’t want to sprout them, I can water them and put the water away. 300mg a day is OK, but I eat much more than 7g of pumpkin seeds or 9g of almonds a day. (gesund-vital.de). This sounds like much more phytic acid than direct phosphorus, e.g. 1.23g in pumpkin seeds.
Sourdough can decrease phytic acid by 80%. Highest in nuts (2-3%), then beans & oats (1%), veg & fruit much less. infothek-gesundheit.de Just I don’t tolerate its acidity.
gesund-aktiv.com suggests watering isn’t bad, however only nec. if any of these are eaten in larger amounts.
The German DGE calls phytic acid phytate and also recommends watering, they see its problem in regard to the amount of zinc taken up, which isn’t my problem.
Healthline says the phytic acid content of almonds and walnuts varies greatly: 0.4-9.4% and 0.2–6.7%! But of hazelnuts only 0.2–0.9%, beans 0.6–2.4%, tofu 0.1–2.9%. Their workaround is to keep it away from other meals, like preferably snacks in between. Soaking over night. Cooking legumes for 1 hour (2018 study). Another study said something about adding NaCl, but not sure about that.
Marksdailyapple (Keto) suggests vitamin C reduces it binding iron. Also that the gut does adapt to the phytate load. Cashews 0.19-4.98%. Kidney beans 0.61-2.38%. Nut from nut milks are often soaked, sprouted and heated and phytase enzyme added, read that quite often now.
Ramiel Nagel on Westonaprice apparently had bad experiences with phytic acid in his family and explains the binding capability of phytic acid as due to its ‘arms’. 400-800mg/d is fine. Not sure how much soaking reduces the phytate. Explains how to combine the various methods, but fermentation is best, and just soaking may not reduce that much, so some type of heat helps - very in depth on that. Also repeats the vit. C for iron.

‘Research’ today: Horehound (Andorn) and mallow (Malve) are good expectorans, I might tolerate mallow, but not horehound.
Precisionnutrition notes where they get the phytate information from: Schlemmer U, et al. Phytate in foods and significance for humans: Food sources, intake, processing, bioavailability, protective role and analysis. Mol Nutr Food res 2009;53:S330-S375.
And say that phytates can cause an iron deficiency in vegetarians, so may need to eat more iron. As opposed to the zinc deficiency I found yesterday this might be more my problem. Upside: It can bind heavy metals and help prevent cancer. “One study showed that subjects consuming a Mediterranean-style diet that included 1000-2000 mg of phytic acid per day did not suffer from reduced mineral bioavailability.” “Soaking beans and grains can reduce phytic acid (and other antinutrients).” (My wife asked if soaking also reduces nutrients, from this it seems no…?)
“Vitamin C appears strong enough to overcome phytic acid. In one study, adding 50 mg of vitamin C counteracted the phytic acid load of a meal. In another study, 80 mg of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) counteracted 25 mg of phytic acid.” Well with my two phytic acid meals I take 500-600mg each of vit. C. Also the bell peppers and sweet potatoes I eat have a bit of vit. C too. (Also broccoli, kale, Brussels sprouts which I want to eat more again.)
“Use vinegar in salad dressings and cooking to enhance mineral absorption and offset phytic acid.” OK, was starting with that again anyway, cos normal vinegar doesn’t have much histamine.
Includes manganese in the minerals, but deficiency of that doesn’t seem to be my issue.
Dietandfitnesstoday distinguishes different kinds of mozzarella, the one with highest phosphorus (656) is nonfat, whilst normal whole milk is only 354mg (35%RDA). Nonfat wouldn’t be bad, if I could find some (organic)…
Nutritionadvance says mozzarella (despite having a high fat content) is low in calories compared to other cheeses, has more calcium than other fresh cheeses.
Niacin/B3 can cause liver and various GI problems, like ulcers, but apparently not heartburn, which again would confirm that my heartburn yesterday was from the cheese, nothing else. However the German page niacinamid-wissen says heartburn is a normal side effect. Also that the flushing can be reduced by an aspirin or an antihistamine and increase glucose - mine is too high…
How can I lower my glucose? Looking at several English and German sites I can’t find anything I can improve, I already do everything. However on nature-via it says that glucose is higher 1.5h after meals, and that’s usually when my bloods are taken, so maybe nothing to worry about.
