Light at the end of the tunnel?

I was on 60 mg of Cymbalta daily for almost a year. For about 5 months it worked very well. Unfortunately, it has stopped working. Along with that, I have gained 30 lbs and just have been seeing really none of the benefits I had before. It’s officially been a week since my doctor cut my dosage to 30 mg/day. I feel horrible. I had the worst flare up Saturday that is just now easing up a bit, ON TOP OF the nausea, dizziness, increased pain, and brain zaps from withdrawal. It’s been a week and I’m ready to give up. :’( not sure how I can make it 3 more weeks, let alone however long it takes to get rid of the side effects of suckbalta! :frowning:

Thanks so much Lovett! Having a place where people have actually been through what I’ve been through is so immensely helpful!!
Gentle hugs (still sore to the touch :/)

I had the side effects for about a week before they started to get better. I hope you get some relief soon. I dread next month my doctror wants to review my meds I hope you are better soon and they can find some thing that works for you

Hi Olivia and welcome...

Coming off antidepressant meds is so hard. I was on cymbalta on top of effexor for awhile and the side effects are horrible. And besides that,i wasn't getting any benefits so i had to wean off. I came off effexor first and then cymbalta. The brain zaps are the worst! At times they would start from my feet and zoom straight up through my body and out the top of my head(that's what it felt like anyway...). I had to be hospitalized for safety purposes while i was weaned. I would call your doctor and let him know how you're feeling. Unfortunately there's no easy way to come off of these types of meds. All I can tell you is the slower the better. The body seems less shocked by the whole process.

I've had major depression for about 12 or so years and been on and off a lot of different meds and i can tell you that effexor was the worst to come off and cymbalta a close second.

Hang in there honey and if you want to talk,no matter what it is,you can count on us...someone will get back to you pretty quickly. Or,feel free to msg me directly

Oh so gentle hugs

Try to keep a little something in your stomach and rest as much as you can

Carolyn

Thanks!!! You too. Are you having problems that warrant a review? It seems senseless to change anything if you’re doing well.

i wll keep you in my good thoughts and prayers for your well being.. much love and HUGGGGGS
