Longing for a Comfortable Mattress!

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I’m going to get a foam mattress topper. I may get a temper pedic in guest room. I sleep there most of the time cause my husband snores.

I’m not sure if we are supposed to talk about this on a different ‘thread’ or what…

Marie–I like the bold because it is easier to read. I take Move Free for my arthritis. I have been taking two pills a day (this is glucosamine chondroitin). Lately my hips have been hurting, so I decided to try taking 3 pills a day. After about two weeks, my hips don’t hurt at all! And I go to Zumba 3 or 4 times a week, and it can really stress out the joints–knees, feet, hips.

Another supplement I have been taking is called Protandim–you can look it up online. I have been taking it for a year now, and it has dramatically helped with the fatigue of Fibromyalgia. You could try it for a couple of months and see if it helps you.

The first queen mattress topper I purchased was 2 inches. The second was 3 inches. I like it better. Get either the 3 or 4 inch topper to fit your bed made from the memory foam material. I got the last one from Amazon for under $150.

We bought a expensive seally king about 3 years ago and it already has formed body shapes in it.

Can you flip it Brian? Side to side, head to toe. I know you have to be Hercules to do it!

Wow! Those supplements must be great if you can Zumba!

We had the same problem with our last king mattress which was a Sealy. Those mattresses don’t flip. We did rotate our old mattress and it seemed the body sags were worse! Macy’s let us return it. It was 2 years old. Brian, check with the store as they should let you return it. It should be under manufacturer warranty.

I also recommend the Bob-O-pedic mattress. It is tons cheaper than the Tempurpedic and does the same thing. We got the plush option. I previously had the Select Comfort mattress and hated it! I would loose air in the mattress depending on how warm or cold the weather was and had to adjust it daily..even sometimes in the middle of the night! And that compressor is loud as hell at 3 in the morning!

Marie,

Hi, supplements do work. Many of us take them daily. I take glucosamine/chondroitin 3 times a day for charley-horses. My doctor says it doesn't help me, because it works on the joints not on the tissues. But, it does help me somehow. None of the other medicines they prescribed helped me, other than zombie -izing me!

I also take Barleylife 6 pills a day, this helps with my my energy/stamina and with the pills I get 18 veggies/fruits daily into my diet. It was helping me with the fatigue, but lately, it hasn't been able to touch it. I've been more busy, the heat has been a factor, and stress and pain is in there as well.

I also drink at least 3 glasses of green tea daily; take Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, 400 IU Beta Carotene, 80 mg Zinc, and 25 mg Magnesium.

Maybe they don't work, and they are just a placebo to me. But, I believe that they work. I've convinced my husband, because he now takes the barley life, the Vitamin E, glucosamine chondrotin, beta carotene daily.

We both exercise, I go to the Ymca Arthritis Water Aerobics twice a week, he goes and swims laps. I also do the Water Zumba once a week.

My advice is to try it, if it doesn't help you in about 90 days. Then, don't take anymore. Visit my website www.myaimstore.com/teresaferenz

Kathy,

Thanks for the supplement tip called Protandim. I have the fatigue of the fibro and also CFS. So, I will see where to purchase it and give it a try. I'm so glad the glucosamine chondroitin is helping you. Do you do the zumba in water or out? We have a Zumba class that is held in the pool at the Ymca, and it is a lot of fun, and a good workout if you handle it. Enjoy!

i have memory foam too...it s better than all the rest

The thing that broke my heart the most when I came down with Fibromyalgia four years ago was not being able to Zumba anymore! I had been going so much that I started to go twice a day! Even though I was 50 at the time I was keeping up and even surpassing the 20-something’s in the class. Then BAM—I could not do it at all.I was constantly in bed and becoming more and more depressed. First my doctor started me on Savella (I had already been on Cymbalta for a year and gained a ton of weight, so I’m not going back there again) which helped me so much that I started to Zumba again and take it easy. When I started the Protandim, I was able to go every day! Sometimes I lose my head and go all out. And it puts me to bed for a few days, but I am learning to jump less and still enjoy the fun of dancing with the Zumba but not use up all my energy for the whole day!

Other exercise would probably be better for me, as I struggle with plantar fasciitis in my feet, but I am so addicted to Zumba–if I go every day, I don’t need Ambien to sleep. It is a mixedblessing!

Hi Kathy,

If you love it, do it as well and as long as you can. Just remember to count those spoons, or energy envelopes! I know about the BAM and CRASHES very well.

Hope you can dance forever!

Hugs,

SK

Kathy,
That’s incredible! I think I may try Protandim. You’re not the first person who mentioned that supplement. I need to loose a bunch of weight to Zumba. I really want to try it because it looks so fun!!

Thanks! I’m allergic to latex (and feathers and wool) so I am limited. I wish I could try it because it sounds nice.

One more challenge… My husband and I are overweight so we need a mattress which is stronger. Most mattresses seem to form indentations in 2-3 years so they get returned to the store. The manufacturer’s warranty covers it so it is not a complete waste of money.

Appreciate all of your help!

I purchased one of the better (more expensive) models. It is great, BUT, the mattress tends to make a hole where I lay, I never seem to change position. Anyway the mattress is not part of the warranty and I was told to tilt the mattress up on it's side and shake the stuffing back into place. Sorry but I live alone and can't do that by myself. I do love my bed but realize it probably won't last as long as it should for the money I paid for it.

Thanks for telling me that detail which the salesman left out.

There is no way I could lift this mattress. That sounds pretty crazy to me! They can’t expect u to lift it! And shake it!

Oh my mind wasn't in sync with my typing, don't know if I said which kind of mattress, it was a sleep number, the mattress is only the outer shell but it is too big and bulky for one person to handle.
