Hi, My name is Kristen & I have had Fibromyalgia for about 6 years. Unfortunately it has only progressed over the years. The stress of the pain and lack of sleep & everything else, has damaged my heart. I am no longer allowed to work/ do anything that can add any stress. I do however volunteer at a cat rescue. That is something that has brought me a lot of joy. I have tried countless drugs, supplements, excersize, PT, massage therapy, acupuncture, chiropractor, homeopathic remedies… I have an amazing husband and some good friends but they will never be able to relate with me. I wanna meet people who I wont feel guilty venting to cause they are in the same boat. I have good days, but mostly bad days. I always put on a brave face for family, but I would love to meet people that I don’t have to do that with.

Hello Kristen, I’m so sorry to hear that fibromyalgia has caused you heart problems. And I feel the same as you do. I want friends that understands the everyday life of living with fibromyalgia. I have no one that really understand what I’m going through in my family or friends circle. I have been diagnosed since 2003 with fibromyalgia. I too have good days and bad days. But more bad ones lately. As you said mine seems to be getting worse. Because at first I could do more and feel better on more days.
But in the past 2 years things just went down hill. I also have arthritis in most of my joints. I’m taking Lyrica for fibromyalgia pain. And Celebrex for arthritis. Like now as I’m writing you this note my body is hurting like crazy. My knee joints hurt the most from the arthritis. But the stiffness is off the charts for me. I have been reading about trying turmeric for joint pain. Oh I also take Tramodal for pain, just like eating candy because it really doesn’t do much for my pain. I pray that we can become close so we can vent too one another. And maybe share things that maybe working for you or I. I pray that you have more pain free days or at least less pain free days. Hope to hear from you soon!!! Take care until next time.

Shirley, it is so nice hearing from you! I’m glad you are looking for a friend too, cause I really need one. I’m sorry you’ve been in a bad fibro rut. It can be so hard and so overwhelming. It consumes your whole life. Two weeks ago I was feeling pretty good. I was going on walks everyday too. I have hardly been able to get out of bed all this week. I too have arthritis in some of my joints and it sucks. I currently take cymbalta for fibro and meloxicam for arthritis and joint pain. I also have IBS and bladder incontinence problems. My memory issues are horrible too. If I dont stretch for an hour a day then I can’t move. I have been to urgent care more times then I can count for pulling muscles in my back. I always feel guilty. Guilty whenever I talk to my friends & husband about fibro (dont like being a downer), guilty for not doing more around the house, guilty for canceling plans with friends. It feels so nice to talk to you and not feel guilty.
Hello Kristen,
Yesterday was a long busy day! I saw your message earlier but I didn’t have time to read it or respond. My daughter has been in the hospital for a week. And she got out on Monday afternoon. Her son totaled her car last weekend. So I had to go deal with that because it was in pound and it was wracking up money sitting in there. Her husband works out of town so I was doing all the running. I got home about 8:30 and I ate something and went to sleep. Now it’s 12:21am and I’m up lol. So I decided to answer your message. Maybe some day we will get comfortable enough to share numbers so we don’t have to text.
Ok too your reply. I also have IBS problems I think it comes along with fibromyalgia. Because most not all people say the same thing. I can’t go without taking a laxative every 2-3 days. I don’t have a bladder problem. But I do have to go when I have to go. And I noticed something I don’t have holding power when I’m sleeping. It gets weaker in a resting state. Do you have children? All my kids are adults. My baby boy was 15 years old when I was diagnosed. I have been early retired since 2004. I was talking Mobic for arthritis also at one time. But it missed with my acid reflux. So I don’t take it for that reason. I still get the script sometimes and my hubby takes it. I don’t cook or clean my house the way I use to because I’m always tired and in pain.
I understand not wanting to talk with friends about it all the time. Because one of my girlfriends hurt my feelings so bad. Because she told my godmother that I act like I’m the only person that has health issues. So now I don’t really talk about my issues anymore with anyone. My daughter I talk with her, but it’s still limited. There are days I stay in bed all day because I’m more comfortable laying down. Sitting up in my living room hurts me. My hubby doesn’t understand. Because when I say it’s something I can’t do that day his comment is what else is new and that’s hurtful to me. I can’t really tell anyone about it because that would make them feel some type away about him. I pray today is a better day for both of us! Have a blessed and awesome day today!

My name is Holly. I just wanted to say hi. I just joined this site today.
I completely understand everything you said. I joined this site to find other people who understand what my life is like.
i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 2 years ago but it took 7 years to get a diagnosis. The pain and fatigue and all of the other problems that come with this diagnosis are awful but the feeling of isolation is hard to deal with too. No one around me really understand how much pain I am daily.
it is nice to be able to read about what others are going through and to talk to other people who really get it.
I hope today is a good day for you.
Holly

I am sorry to hear that you have to deal with this too. It can be really hard. Luckily I have an amazing husband and a couple close friends but they will never fully understand. I lost a lot of friends when I first started getting sick. All people wanted to do was bar hop & party and I was just wanting to stay in & watch movies. Definitely learned the hard way who my real friends are. It can be really isolating.

Hello Holly,
I’m so very sorry that you have to go through this horrible pain and fatigue daily. I do understand dearly because I have known I had fibromyalgia since 2003. Some days are better than others. But if you happen to do more on one of your good days, than you pay dearly for that. Are you able too work still? Because I’m not. I retired early because of fibromyalgia and arthritis. I was told by my new friend from here to do stretches and it will help you to not over strain your muscles. I’m on Lyrica and it’s helping some. If I can get relief from my back pain from arthritis, and stiffness in my joints I might would have a better course of life. I pray Holly that you have more better days and pain free days!
Have a blessed and awesome day!

I’m chuckling because my sweetie went on a Tumeric kick last year last year – telling me it would fix everything that ailed me! I still have about 4 lbs of that stuff in my cupboard after he got bored with the Tumeric cure.
But maybe it will work wonders for you – it made for some colorful meals.
I’m right there with you both on the fibromyalgia stuff – I think I’ve had this all my life, but it started rearing it’s ugly head about 6 years ago. I was diagnosed 2 years ago. I decided to file for disability when my doctor told me I could no longer hike or walk alone, with my dogs, in the woods anymore. I’ve been howling mad ever since that doctors appointment, and trying to find solace from others ever since.

Hello Killer Tomato,
I’m sorry it didn’t work for you!
But so far I haven’t gone out to the store to get any tumeric. I do want to try it. But I haven’t felt like going to the store lately. It has been raining
️ a lot in my area lately. So with that being said my body feels like it has been put in a meat grinder.
I pray that you do fine something that will help you. Because I’m taking Lyrica and Tramodal. And Celebrex for my arthritis. And with that I still have a lot of pain. I really don’t know what else to do! Have a blessed and painless day!

Like KristenE, above, I’m in Oregon, (I just moved from Eugene! Small world, right?), so like every other Oregonian, if we let the rain stop us, we would have about 200 days of never going outside! It does get really, really tiresome, and quite depressing sometimes. Slippery, muddy, a pain to drive in, etc… It is a GREAT excuse to be still and rest my body though, when I’m in pain, and I don’t feel too guilty for doing inside, sedentary things! One bonus point for Oregon weather.
I’m sorry that the rain makes you ache so much more, Ladysax. The arthritis, on top of Fibro has got to be SO awful! Ugg! Knock wood, I’ve been spared that, so far. Be well, and take care of yourself. Deal with the store when you can!
I’m sorry you have fibro. It really sucks. I’ve had so many people say that it is up to me how I feel & that it is all about positive thinking. To an extant it can be true but for the most part its not. I’ve been trying really hard to put a more positive spin on things. I volunteer for a cat rescue & got into photography which are both things I always wanted to do but never had time for. Now that I’m disabled I do have more time on my hands but its not what people think. I spend a minimum an hour a day just stretching or I can’t move. I also have physical therapy I do everyday. I go on 4-5 3+ mile walks a week just trying to get the weight off I’ve gained since getting fibro. Then there is all the time I spend @dr offices & in bed resting. It consumes my life. I can’t do too much in one day or I can’t get out of bed for days. I strongly recommend doing something that is meaningful & try to focus on that. Volunteering has definitely helped my self esteem.
