Glad you got the books. I understand the difficulty with concentration and getting through a book. But I also have "healthy" friends who feel the same way. It could be a side effect of getting older!

Lisa,
I have pain everyday as I’m sure a lot of people here do. I get frustrated when someone says but you’re not in a “flare” right? I had to explain to a friend of mine that I experience pain everyday but sometimes when I say “flare” that I mean the pain is worse during that time but that I ALWAYS have some kind of pain.
Sitting here typing on my couch, my back is killing me in 3 different places and my left hip hurts as well as my left calf and to top it all off…I have a whopper of a headache!
So you are not alone at all…I am ALWAYS in pain!
Did you read this book all the way through yet?
HI Maria - yes, i am pretty sure a lot of it is getting older. I hate getting older! LOL It's no fun and a person has to definitely be pretty strong to deal with all that comes with it. Laurie
Hi Tina, I am the same as you with pain every day, some days not as bad, but yes the pain is there. Most of it is in my low back, sometimes in mid back. I get bad pain in my neck/shoulder area, but that is not very often. When I wake up in the morning, the pain in my hips and legs is pretty bad. Sometimes I cannot get to the bathroom fast enough as that is the first thing I have to do. Because of my leg pain I walk so slow and awkward that I sometimes have little "accidents" by the time I reach the toilet. I sit on the sofa, like you, watch tv and play on my laptop. I do medical transcription from home, but thankfully I am not busy doing reports every day, it could 2 or 3 days a week that I have a report to do (long workers' comp reports). I will generally get started on a report fairly promptly, but the one doctor whose reports I do does not expect them back right away. If I sat and just typed and did not get up from my chair (I don't think that will ever happen), I probably could finish a report in 3 hours. But I take frequent breaks either just walking around a bit or getting a snack and sometimes sitting on the sofa to relax and watch a little tv. I have tons of shows and movies recorded so I have a good pick of what I can watch. A couple of times a week I may go to the grocery or other errand or a doctor's appt. But for the most part, I sit on the sofa and take it easy. Oh yeah, I usually make dinner for me and boyfriend, and that involves standing for which I have to have rested. I also take a couple of naps a day since I have the opportunity. It is a lot because of my eye pain and also i feel tired so I nap or have a headache. I just bought some Aleve (Naproxen) for my headaches. The neurologist prescribed Midrin for me, but the cost was exorbitant at $108. and that is only for a 10 day supple. I am on Medicare and very limited on what they will authorize for patients. So I have to pick and choose what medications to go with and treatments to try. Just tried some acupuncture, had 2 sessions, but they did not seem to work. I may try one more time, but I think I will try either Yoga or massage next. Chirpractor is another option. I just started seeing a therapist, and see if she can help me cope.

hi laurie...btw, have you checked the library? and if they don't have it...especially if you form a personal connection with someone (i think its the "help desk"?) in charge of doing this: the library will order books (i think they may also have a rule...like, if it is requested 6 times? you can ask...and then ask your friends/family to also put in a request!) but i have also asked them & gotten it ordered. (gordon nuefeld's power to parent dvd's ..which have nothing to do with fibro, but interesting nonetheless, lol). :) you can also ask for an "interlibrary loan"...my x boyfriend used to get the most OBSCURE books doing this! i swear, he could get anything from the library. so if your library does not have the book, but another one does...they will look for you & get it! pretty cool! and free. well, except for the fines when you forget to return it. . . :( (but i also knew someone well enough...they were very kind & would usually take off the fines for me)
