My doctor and nurse recommended 2 books on Fibromyalgia. I have ordered them!

HI everyone - I saw my doctor and nurse a few days ago, and both of them highly recommended 2 books that would interest me. I will list them at the bottom of the email. I am very excited to get these books. I ordered them from Amazon.. I am such an avid reader that I swear everyone at Amazon knows me pretty well. LOL I haven't been able to do much today. I have my famous spasms in my back, shoulders and chest area, I can feel the triggers points too. Just another day in the trial and tribulations of Laurie!!! Did any of you wake up on the 'wrong' side of the bed like I did this morning?? Meaning, did you wake up in any pain this morning??.Here are the books - below - Hope you are interested!!

! - Inside Fibromyalgia By: Mark J. Pallegrino MD

2 - The Fibromyalgia Survivor By: Mark J. Pallegrino (this books in particular etlla about the author himself have Fibro

HUGE Hugs!!!

Laurie

Hope they help you, I have a couple, but are buried at the moment, with the work being done upstairs. Cannot remember author or title.

Dr. Pallegrino as you said, has Fibro himself. So it makes it easy to navigate his POV.

I actually saw a colleague of his for a couple of years Dr, Don Goldenberg out of Newton-Wellsley Hospital in Boston, MA. He confirmed my diagnosis of Fibromyalgia that was given by my Internist and my Rheumatologist I was seeing at the time. So, also a couple of other books I can recommend are by Devin Starlanyl and Dr. Goldenberg. They are on Amazon as well. In my opinion, they are great for some one newly diagnosed and a "Bible" to go back and look at from time to time if you have any questions that come to mind.

Feel better Laurie! Huggles!

Hi Laurie,

I am glad to see you are excited about your purchases. I am also a book nut and have multiple books I am working on at this time. The two books you mentioned were published in 2001 and 1995, respectively. Dr. Pellegrino also put out a book in 2005 called, "Fibromyalgia, Up close and Personal" I have this book and found it quite helpful. It is a large book with around 400 pages. The info covers many areas of medical care that our docs do not address. Check it out at amazon.

Be Well

Maria

Hi Kitty - I just woke up. As usual I didn't sleep well and I have 'Fibro fog' swimming around in my head!! LOL Yes, I have heard of Dr. Pelligrino's.other book that you have mentioned. I plan to get that one too. I like the idea that this particular book covers, everything you mentioned in you email. I have written it down on paper and intend to get it in March. I am on a budget right now, as I paid off a huge medical bill (they never give you a break!!), but I will definitely get it soon. Thanks so much for telling me about. Believe it or not, I have never read an actual book Fibromyalgia - so I am excited about it. What inspired me to get the two books I ordered is this group that I am involved with - all of YOU. I can't tell everyone how much better I feel, mentally and emotionally in being able to talk to you all. Love, Lauria

It's Mark Pellegrino, same as my last name.

Hi nma - How strange that you have the same name as the doctor! Are you related to him??? LoL How are you feeling today? I am in pain - which is nothing new. When I get up in the morning - that's when my pain is worse. It takes about couple hours for me to unwind. I fell like the 'tin man' in the Wizard of Oz! Laurie

I am glad you feel better and have joined our group

I am newly diagnosed with fibro although i have been experiencing some of the symptoms for about two years. i immediately purchased the two books recommended by laurie on amazon. This group is awesome with lots of helpful info and people for someone new to the world. My fibro pain is pretty much every day, not just occasional flared up. Does anyone else experience the same every day pain?

Lisa

Hi Lisa - thanks for buying the 2 books I recommended!! There are a lots of books available on Fibro, but I am particiularly interested in the ones I am having delivered from Amazon. Lisa, you are very smart to get yourself acquainted with Fibromyalgia now that you are in the beginning stages of.it. As you become more knowledgeable on the subject, you will be able to interact with your doctor (s) what it is you want him to understand about your illness. It's a very challenging illness. Are you seeing a Rheumatologist?? Try to check out one that speciiliazes in Fibro. If you can't find one - Rheumatologists are just as good. I have had Fibro for 32 years now. Every day I hurt and flare ups occur more frequently now that I am older. Please stay with our group!! It's a fantastic website and I love keeping up to date on what's going with everything in regards to their illness. The support system is incredible!! If you feel like venting, do it!!! That's what we are here for as well. It's important to take care pf yourself the best way you can. Throughout you Fibromyalgia, you might face some stressful times - that is the time to turn to us, your group. We offer a wealth of information and suggestions. Every day - I look forward to going on this website to see how everyone is doing. I feel very close to everyone because they know how I feel and what I go through. This is the key ingredient, Lisa - We all understand what others go through because we are afflicted with it also. Take Care!! Gentle hug!! Laurie

My stomach has ached all day. No let up. I’ll have to check the books I’ve ordered to see. Thanks.

He is here in the. Akron Canton Ohio area . He also has fibro is a Dr. and is deaf. I have gone to him many times. If anyone needs a place to stay to come see him let me know.
Lindakay

Pass if forward as they say.....good luck and let us know how you like it..there mainly pro comments on amazon with one 2 star...

OR try you library!!! I love libraries! :-) !!<B !

Hi LindaKay - I bought the book that describes what he has gone through himself with Fibro. It should arrive sometime this week The other book is by the same Doctor and it talks about Fibro in general and gives a lot of information what we can do to help ourselves. I am embarassed to say that I have never actually read a book on FIbro. I have read pamphlets that I see in the doctor's office. But I am enthusiastic about the ones I ordered, and I think it will help me to explain to the doctor what I gr through. He may even learn a few things from me too! LOL Take care -ok?? Hugs!! Laurie

Hello Everyone who wants some good reading. I bought the book "From Fatigued to Fantastic" by Jacob Teitelbaum, M.D.. He seems to have some good ideas about fibro and ways to treat it or minimize the symptoms. I always seem to have trouble picking up a book and really reading it. I used to be an avid reader, but the last 10 years I do not have as much desire. Is it because I get blurry vision or hard to concentrate because of fibro? I have to force myself to pick up this book and read it.

Karen

(Hate Pain)

Hi - Yes, it could be your blurry visions and concentration. As much as I love to read, I very often have to put down the book and rest for a while. My concentration sometimes gets bad enough that I start 'reading between the lines.' I don't get very far in my book when this happens! LOL Love, Laurie

I understand what you're saying, Karen. I have many books I cant get through. I love to read, along with other things, like knitting. Seems much harder to hold my attention for very long. I'm trying the eye drops that help with dry eye and I think they are working some. Maybe that would help us. When I get a self help book, I kind of read it bit by bit, picking things out that interest me. I think that's ok. It's also harder to concentrate when we are in pain. Give yourself a little love and tell yourself it's ok. You'll get what you can outt of it.

Hugs,.

L-Kitty

Hi L-Kitty, I do use eye drops for dry eyes. Today I could not find my big bottle, but did find a small trial size and that helps. I bought my big one at a discount store, only a couple of bucks, but seems to work fine. My eye doc recommended Restasis, a very good product for dry eyes, but quite expensive with my medicare insurance plan. I try to go "cheap" if it works.

Karen

(Hate Pain)

Hi Lisa, yes I have pain everyday. My flare ups are much more intense than the everyday pain. I am unable to do anything when that happens. I hope you feel better soon. Hugs to you
